Default www.worldfire.com - redo

Well, I appreciated everyone's comments during the last time I posted the updates to this site a few weeks ago. I went away, added some graphics, cleaned up the code more, and wanted to bring it back and get ideas if I missed anything?

I'll be adding more and more content here, as I'd like this to be a resource within the state I'm in. I'm not so greedy, only really seeking customers in Maryland, but hopefully I'll be able to get some solid business moving.

Anyway, please provide any tips, comments or suggestions for this site and if you think it's worthy of a design firm.

One thing I did not do was change the "we" to "I" since I do have a team that I work with on sites. But other than that, should look better and cleaner for all.

on a 800x600 screen resolution,
a part of the right side of your site is getting cut.
navigation is also not shown fully.
it will be better to create site that fit all screen resoltions.
your site looks good.
the text is convincing
and the image is creative.

As crush123 said, the page is not seen fully in a 800x600 monitor. Either make the page collapsible or reduce the width of the table. Secondly it would be a good idea to reduce the size of the "Lose Your head..." image. At present it is taking up too much of space and pushing down the rest of the page content especially the important text. Also do add the following META tag to prevent IE from showing the imagetoolbar when visitors hover the mouse over the "Lose Your head..." image.
<meta http-equiv="imagetoolbar" content="no" />

Default Great input...

Well, unfortunately, with the amount of content on the site, I simply don't like the way the site lays out at 800x600. Considering my target audience, US businesses looking for web sites and optimization and marketing services, everything I can see tells me that visitors using 800x600 resolution account for well under 5% of the visitors to my site.

I decided against that option for that reason. I kept the site so it would display in every resolution nicely, except for 800x600. That was a design choice.

Regarding the tip for IE, guess you learn something new every day. I had no idea about that meta tag. I'll add that to a lot of my work, as that gets annoying at times.

Any more tips and suggestions? Good bad and ugly, i'll take.

Default Wrong picture...

Hey, look at that, they put up the wrong picture on the home page. Oh well, so I had another question, how many people think putting SEO and SEM rates on the site are a good idea?

I think the picture and the heading "Lose your head..." are very effective, nice job.

Please be consistent - your link text is sometimes capitalized and sometimes not - choose one, lol!

Under the blue graphic "Success" you have a grammar error - should be "optimization of" or "optimizing" your website for the search engines...

I like the Tips for Success right column - but at first glance with the first heading being "Google Adwords ..." my first inclination was to ignore that column entirely, as I thought it was Google Adsense ads. You might want to move that one down and move another one up that better captures the reader's interest.

I don't see any prices on this website - Promark asked if anybody thought it was a good idea, and I'd say yes, if you can come up with some ballpark package type deals (subject to review and depending on the actual project) it would help prospective buyers a lot.

Default Formerly Promarkweb

Hey Jane,

Thanks for the comments. First, I realized I'd been posting under a name for one of my clients, versus my own, so I changed over to my own handle to personalize my statements.

Second, thanks for the kind words. I actually have a few more articles to put up and I'll definately pull the Google one down, you make a very good point that people might think it's an ad. I'm trying to build out some great content and make the site useful in my area for businesses.

Third, regarding prices, I did put some up, but only on the web design page. I did this site over the weekend, so, I still have some tweaking to do. I agree that prices should be there, I'm just afraid of them scaring someone away. I guess if they aren't willing to spend that type of money on their web site, then I don't want them as a client right?

Finally, thanks for the notes on the grammar issues, sometimes when I'm banging through a site, I miss stuff like that. I appreciate the input. I type too fast and don't go back and proofread right away. Such is life.

Keep the tips coming folks.

The graphics really stand out. The main image and "Lose...Help!" works very well. Nice work! However, my eye isn't drawn to any of the subsequent text - how about headings? And I'd reduce the size of each of the three rectangular images and add white space between the columns underneath.

Also, I'd try lowering the grey column, i.e. starting it (or at least its content) later. Trouble is that even when I naturally read from left to right I come across the grey column text before the main text. And/or maybe reduce the red text font?

I’d also consider emphasising ‘calls to action’. At each part of the page, what do you want me to do next (and why should I)?

The above is just my view of the very initial impression of the first page. Once people have enough curiosity to click-on I see there’s lots of great content. I hope the site meets your objectives.

Default MacTheKnife...I love it!

First, love the handle great name Mac. Second, as I shared, this is a redo of a first design that had no graphics. I hate doing my own site, as it's tough to find good pics and engage people.

I have been contemplating the change you mentioned regarding the three images, only issue is that to keep the width, I'd lose one of the little guys on the "search engine marketing" pic, which was my delima in the first place. Still trying to figure that piece out.

Now, a question about the grey column, any ideas on text color? Or how I can make the body text jump out a little more? Maybe a larger text header just below the main image?

Calls to action I definately agree with, and haven't gotten to yet. I want the site to flow a little more, and I simply haven't figured that part out yet. Maybe breaks in the articles inviting them to contact me?

Love the feedback guys, keep it coming.
