Default I submit my site to the critics willingly ...CyberNomad.com

I would appreciate any feedback, as I am trying to develop an internet portal. I am a one person team but need outside opinions. Please look at everything including Slogan (Wander Here...), design, ease of use, linking issues, and anything else you can think of... I will not hate anyone in the morning.. BE HONEST...

Thanks In Advance

Default Why?

Just curious.... why a portal? I man, what is your business plan? Are you marketing products, building traffic for adverstising, is this a re-brand, or is it just for fun?

BTW, I gather you like that shove-it-in-your-face "yellow" background.

Kind regards,

Brett.

Default Apprecaite your Input...Brett

I am still doing this for fun...Originally started out as a site listing free stuff on the internet.. but it kind of grew to bigger than that.. I make no money on this site... My plan was that eventually I could use this site to supplement my current income, besides I love this stuff... My plan was to build up "regular" traffic and take it from there... As far as the yellow.. you don't like?

Default CyberNomad.com - Color Survey

It has brought to my attention, that the color scheme I use on my web site is not the most effective... I would love to here suggestions for othe color combinations.. Which are best for the eyes..

I would also like other cosmetic opinions....

I'm a big fan of the yellow color you use, but I would use it for the tables or navigation menu rather than the background. You can also as an alternative keep it as a background, but texturize it with some kind of subtle pattern that will reduce the bright contrast.

Its a little difficult for me to review the site, as I am not very good at evaluating portals. I have the same question re: your business plan as the previous poster had.

I like the brand name Cyber Nomad. I just am not sure what you are trying to achieve with the site. Perhaps a more focused guide with articles, awards and special features (like About.com) would make it more interesting. Outside of the standard directories like Google, dmoz or Yahoo, I hardly ever look twice at portals.

I really like your logo! As far as the color scheme, maybe try swapping the blue from the left and the darker yellow.

Just a thought...

Default Thanks for the opinion.. I will definite

I will definitely look into adding textures.. any other opinion you have is still appreciated... I started with a general portal.. and will specialize the topics as you mentioned that About.com does...It is just a mtter of finding the time... which won't be worth it if the overall site does not look to appealling...

Thanks Again

fonts need to be consistent and size eg front page different font under "communicate" to "publications"

communicate page:
clicking on link "multicity" gave error message?

link "toolzone" gives you "this domain is for sale?

bottom links line centre on light yellow background

"todays finance" and "business news" have bit more space on left and right of edges? first one too close to right edge second one too close to left edge?

change format of mon., Aug 4 - looks odd?

privacy policy?

clean site

Bit full design... not sure where to go. Try to easy up on the yahoo like index, be easy.
Have a link like "\portal link database" or whatever where you list all major topics.

Also use better fontsize definements, although I know it's a choice... both Opera and Netscape browsers have serious problems with the site.

Just a tip. :) Hope it's worth something.

For the rest... Like the logo, to much yellow on the back, nice link database etc but needs some fixing here and there.

Regards,

HV

Thanks...

Too much info on home page....?

Should I pick 3 to 4 hot button searches, topics, ect.. and feature those on the homepage along with a link to the rest of the portal on the same page?

If i did this , would that mean that it would be a better decision to update the homepage daily.. (how often)

I welcome any opinions

Till Next Time,
Bill Robinson

Yes, personally, I like a clean first sigh overview, so I can decide in 3 seconds whether I will look further or whether I will quit looking because it's to busy and i can't grasp what its all about.

Main thing todo is getting an cleaner site and ditching the yahoo-like directory scheme and listings. Chose a second page for that. Start with a search by topic bar and/or keyword and then move to a second page where you (at the top?) list all your topics and below that any first or all results of previews search... er.. and of course a link without searching to see the dir.

Something like that. But that's me.

:)
