Hi Robban

Nice idea. I will be sure to join once I have finished the work I am currently doing.

At first glance, my eye is drawn to the of a microphone. Why have you picked that to represent F1? Why not a sleak stunning car or a montage of some of the drivers?

The forum itself looks like many others forums that I sign on to. I assume because they're all the same layout because they're from the same company so that really is out of your control.

But why oh why do you opt for AdSense? Thats more frustrating than anything and whats more you have AdSense above your welcome message on the home page. Thats saying "This is us. BUY SOMETHING! Oh and welcome to our forum." A few of the forums I use have their adverts at the bottom if they have them at all.

Just my quids worth. HTH

Debbie

Thanks for the insightful feedback.

Yeah forum scripts look all pretty much the same until you go in and change skin colors etc. Hopefully one day I can make some of my small icons etc. For now - life is too short to cover all the details. Really - this forum is more like a learning experience But definitely also allabout my beloved f1.

The microphone I chose to represent TALK since I have that as my Forum "word". Yeah I guess I coulda gone the racing car/flag stipes way but it is so easily to get dated and/or favor the certain team ie. red car is ferrari etc.

Like you dont see keyborads and computer screens part of the identity here at WPW either. Oops Now I am getting way too defensive. I really appreciate the feednback. So far I am only about 30 minutes into the forum. (seriously - including logo design)

Adsense is outa my control. I totally agree with you. As soon as I get more members etc I'd dump the ads. Those are now from the fine people who host the site free for me. Sure paying my own wouldnt be much but I really just want to get it off the gound like this first.

We would love to have you join us.

Robban

Actually Robban, I read my post after it was too late to edit it and I must admit I did sound a little bit opinionated and a bit brusque. I do normally give a guideline as well as what I think. Sorry about that.

I guess I see it from your point of view and for a start, it is very good. But it was just first impressions and that was what I was talking from. And at least when it picks up you have an idea of which issues should be resolved.

I think with a talk forum like this, the main concern was does it work? And as it is samey, any experienced forum postee will know that it does.

As I say - I will join because I am mad about F1 (start of season in a couple of weeks: Woo! Woo!) but I have a few client sites to work on first and then I am all yours (or rather the forums) ;)

Thanks Debbie - First impressions are very important and I think undervalued since so often that all you get.

I will have to make some gasoline smell around there. Get a better racing feel. The most important is to get some good F1 talk going. + forum script/software is not the best one and I am not very happy with it.

We would be thrilled to have you join us. And of course anybody else.

The talk will get serious there in a few days.
