I agree with the stacked navigation - it's just too annoying to deal with and visually distracting. I do like the colors for this site content and I like the header. Insert a line space between the bottom of the left navagation menu and the top of your Amazon reseller panel to give more distance.
I started to read the home page but tuned out quickly when I saw the 'are going to be' 'will be opening' and 'we will also have'. If this is a Pre-launch, say so upfront and give a recommended date to check back for the established site. Most people won't bother to manually bookmark the site and remember later to check it again, given the way it is now. Consider inserting a snipit of code to offer 'bookmark this page' or 'add this page to your favorites list'. Great that you offer different translations of the site and you may want to mention that in the text somewhere so the search engines pick it up. Also set some tags on your images, search engines generally love those and it adds extra rich contex.
Ok, I clicked on the rest of the site. Hide the 'Image Gallery' until you get some shots posted to save dissapointment. Great with the maps and town distances, good work. Link page is simple and looks good, you may want to sell some advertising space there as well as offering link-backs.
The link 'About Umbria' your text 'We will be adding information on Beautiful Umbria soon' - go ahead and add it! There should be something available right now, no excuse.
Hope you found this helpful and good luck.
