Default need review for my travel site - www.cupotico.com

Hi all,
i have a travel site for hotel reservation cupotico.com and i am trying to get to the top SERP in google and yahoo for the last three years with little success. my main keywords is costa rica hotels and any combination of hotel and a local town. i will appreciate any comment regarding the home page SEO.

I've been putting a lot of effort on the client angle as well.

Regards,

Andres

Your top keyword phrase is costa rica (25 times) but the keyword density is only 1.53%, which is really low. Your keywords are getting diluted by your lengthy text and the 140+ anchor tags you have linking to external sites.

My recommendation is to scale things back, focus on "costa rica", clean up your META tags (you've got too many characters in too many tags), validate your site and fix your code errors.

Then see what happens.

Thank you MarcieZoob
I will apply your recommendations.

Regarding the 140+ anchor tags i have linking to external sites, 99% of them are pointing to the same site and a counted as inbound link. Most of them are using anchor text to keywords I also use to bring targeted traffic to hotels in more specific locations. like 'san jose hotels' etc.
You think I should change those links from been external and make them internal ?
Which tags do you think are not necessary ?
and what is you recommendation for the length of each tag?

Thanks again
Andres

Hi cupotico

I haven't posted here in age, but your post caught my eye in the WPW email mailings. (I'm a sucker for anything travel-related.)

Aesthetically, I'd say the site looks just fine. It's reasonably pleasing to the eye and easy to navigate, although I'd agree it's probably a little text-heavy.

Someone with more SEO experience is probably better off advising than I, but one thing you might like to do is to submit to our travel search engine. It's currently free (although we do have a huge backlog of 6,000+ submissions so will be changing to paid-only shortly). The URL for the add url page is http://www.aardvarktravel.net/addurl

Good luck

Aaron

lawrephord192 : i do have a page like that and it is linked from the home page :http://www.cupotico.com/hotel_by_map.html
also i got a page for each location with the hotels hyperlink on the map. (http://www.cupotico.com/maps_costa_rica.html)

Aaron : thanks for the comment, i actually did submit my site to that specific directory few months back... i see it in the directory but more as a search result and not a directory entry.

Hi there

In all probability, the submission is still yet to be processed. We have a huge backlog of over 6,000 entries that we're struggling to get through, and we're going to have to move to paid only very soon. You are probably seeing yourself in the SERPs because of data fed to us from third parties rather than because of your own entry having been processed yet.

Apologies for the delay... we shall get around to it... eventually!

Aaron

Thank you guys for your comments.. I really enjoy getting remarks.- Been working on them since.
I Changed 800 pages already with new opening sentence and new fonts.

Having some issues with the W3C validations

Q.you think that the SEPR is related to the W3C validations ?
Q. MarcieZoob does my keyword in <H1> is a bad idea?

I always try to keep my site in balance between my human client and the SE robots.
So I have to use a lots of content and info that works for both. Does it take too long to upload or just too many words on the page?
Also I got a lot of keyword ranking on the SERP that I would be afraid to split the home page and add more internal link.

Thank you again for you remarks,

I am open for more if any one see this http://www.cupotico.com
