I am just setting up a specialist design service for people who make one off artists teddy bears. Can you please take a look at the site and let me know what you think - Good and bad.

The site is all Flash, I know that this is not accessible, is rubbish on search engines etc, but this is a very targeted site that will be promoted through adverts in specialised magazines and events.

Thanks

David

Hi David, welcome to WebProWorld! The site looks real good, very simple, loads fast, and is easy to use.

I was initially confused about the site, I was expecting bear-making supplies and such and the text on the home page seemed to reinforce that. It says, "Your resource for all the design related items a bear artist needs". It just confused me at first, but this may not be an issue if the majority of visitors are coming from ads, they'll know what to expect.

You might consider adding a phone number and address to the contact page.

That's really the only critique I could come up with when considering your intentions for the site.

Again, nice site and I think it suits the niche you are aiming at. Good luck!

Thanks for the response. I do agree with the point about the contact details, I will add these over the next week.

I am also going to amend the text on the front page as I do agree it is a little ambiguous.

Thanks

David

A nice-looking little site. The web design link doesn't work, should it? Examples of your logo, and print work would be useful for prospective customers.

I'm confused by the form in the code, no action and no contents apart from the Flash form when it's up. Aren't all of the form actions embedded in the Flash itself? Just curious. You have also missed the closures ( />) on your keywords and description tags.

Should you ever wish to make the site accessible to all visitors (always a good idea) and the search engines it would be quite possible to overlay the Flash with transparent divs (using "wmode") with real text.

Hi Tim,

Thanks for the comments.

I have closed the tags (always miss them), and the form was left over from a few tests I was doing earlier in the development. I've removed this now.

Thanks also for spotting the rogue button behind the web design item - also now removed.

I agree with you that it would be great to have some examples of previous work up there. Trouble is that none of the stuff I have produced previously has any reflection on the market this site is aimed at. I think it might even scare some off rather than encourage them to take me on. I'm hoping to rectify this soon once (fingers crossed) I get a couple of projects under my belt that relate to this particular market.

Again thanks for the comments they were very useful.

David

In the absence of existing topical examples you could invent some!

Btw. I hope you don't mind me pointing them out here but looking through your other sites I noticed some problems;

* On The Bear Directory the central content doesn't show in Firefox! Background colour missing, text is there.

* On The Laboratory site, a spelling mistake that I used to make, it's stationery not stationary. The latter is not moving!

Cheers Tim, Thanks for taking the time. I think the problem with the background colour in Firfox is a missing #. ie: cccccc should be #cccccc. I'll fix this, I'll also correct my rubbish spelling.

Thanks again

David.
