Has all the parts but is lacking any real excitement with the muted colors and zero logo. It could use a lot of help. I don't know where to start.

This post caught my attention since I have the world's pet dog sitter. Since our dog is our child, our pet sitter has to be stellar. If this website was hers, however, I probably wouldn't have hired her.

First off, the colors are so drab that it gives a very "blah" first impression. Brighten things up - pets are fun and I assume your job is, too! Your website needs a consistent identity on each page (logo in the header) and a happier color scheme.

Your side page navigation changes on every page. Revise your menu structure so it's THE SAME on each and every page so your visitors don't get confused. The footer links are too hard to read to be of any help. The quality of the graphics and photos are poor throughout the site, especially the header images (lose that dirty drop shadow).

Before you let a search engine crawl your site, fix that mess of HEAD tags. You're in dangerous territory with multiple keyword and description tags and duplicate comment tags. It's an "old school" trick you're using that is risky in regard to SEO.

I, too, started with Website Complete. You can wind up with a nice looking and fairly unique site, but there are many limitations.
The two biggest problems are that it generates extremely messy code, and that you have to fix the navigation page by page if you want it to be consistent.
In your case, some of your images are displaying on top of the text on my screen. This is because you are using absolutely positioned images and the font size on my computer is set rather large.
Your keyword and other meta tag problems are the result of using multiple meta tag generators - Website Complete's own, one from HTML Tidy, and one from Submit Express. Instead of each generator changing the tags, they are simply adding more to your existing code.
Another problem I found with Website Complete is that, although it is possible to add your own HTML, it really doesn't function as well as it should with it.
My eventual solution was to change hosts, learn some html and css, and build a completely different site, using only the images and content from the original. It was a hard pill to swallow after paying $49 to publish the original, but I am extremely happy with the result. If you are totally against that, there may be another solution, although it will take a lot of work as well. I would be glad to help you with either one (as payback for all of the help I've received here and elsewhere). You can send me a PM if you're interested.

HI happytails,

The most important page will always be your home page. If it does not inspire visitors, neither will the rest of your site.

So, let's examine it:
Home Page

Missing Logo
- maybe you forgot to upload it... or maybe you just don't have one... Either way, a logo is the single most important branding and identification tool a business has. Whatever you do, please do not go digging for cute doggy clip art. Hire a pro, the few hundred dollars will be well worth it on branding that can go on your website, biz cards, letterheads, e-mail sig, flyers, newspaper ads...

"Welcome to our site"
- I see this all the time and I personally never understood why a business feels the need to welcome visitors. Whenever I see it, I think of a Welcome Mat at the family retreat...
After all do we ever see a billboard that says Welcome to our Sign?
or a TV commercial that says, Welcome to our ad?

General Wording
- You talk about... me
I have many clients
I am licensed, bonded, etc
I have references
I am recommended by vets
I accept different forms of payment
I have a name and phone number

But the 2 crucial things you don't talk about are
- Your services
- Your visitors

The main questions people want answered is:
What can you do for me? and is your service what I want? All that other stuff I mentioned, is secondary or even tertiary information.

Example: After doing some digging, it looks like you are located in South Carolina. So, can I assume you won't be doing any dog walking in Dallas? or Seattle? - no where on your front page is this indicated.

Hits Counter
There is no reason why you need to tell people how popular or how un-popular your website is.

Over-all Design
The problem here, is there just isn't any, similar to the missing logo - they should go together.
The tiled background is too dark and uninspiring and just doesn't work with anything else on the page.
You're also using too many colors for the text.
black, blue/purple for the footer links, purple and yellow for the nav links and purple for the page titles.

Try to stick to just a few colors

Ask questions, it's the best way to learn

Hi,

The site lacks site structure.

The rollovers display broken images.

The background needs to be changed. Perhaps reduce the page width because of the limited info you will show.

Rework your gif images on the homepage, and take out that counter.

Rewrite the site copy.

1 High Five :( Try Again.
