Default New Site - http://www.jcwebdesignmarketing.com

I've had my site up for review on other sites and most don't like the red color. What do you all think? If I change the color, what do you think I should change it to? Any other comments appreciated.

Red has it's place. It means "danger will robinson DANGER!!" & excitement but it's not really the one to use if you're trying to attract clients.

Blues & grays, although boring, will give your company a more "professional" & cool image ;-)

Default Thanks

Thanks for reviewing my site. I'll try blue or gray and see what it looks like.

Okay...all i'm gonna say, is practice what you preach!!

you are a web designer, but your site looks like a complete cut and paste job of the early nineties my sister made about our dog.

I really don't like being super-negative in reviews, but I think you need to evaluate your market, look around at other web designers sites are like. You are waaaaaaaaaaaaay off.

For example, you need a STYLE. You've got a microsoft word-art type header, and then an un-styled, un-organized body.

Again, sorry for the negativity, but IMHO, it's back to the ole drawing board for this one.

Ran may have been a little harsh, but there is some truth to those comments. Your body, in particular would look better with a little more style and maybe smaller text.
That said, it is a lot more original than the site I made to go with my reseller account (but then your prices are a lot higher, too).
Good luck,

Thank you all for your imput. But for ran_dizolph I agree with some of your comments, but I don't agree with making my site or my customers sites like everyone elses. That is my niche. That is why I am hired, because the people I work for don't want what everyone else has on the internet - a copied template, thereby custom web design. Why pay me when you can do a template? Since I do jobs in the same fields (travel, churches, real estate, etc.)my clients want to know that their pages are not a carbon copy of someone elses work.
I will work on incorporating CSS into my site.

My portfolio is on the top links, last one to the right. That only tells me I need to change some things. Thanks again.

BTW, I kind of like the red. I have run into some problems with reds, though, cuz what looks bright red on my screen sometimes looks orangey on an LCD screen, so you might want to check it on as many as possible.
Try bold text on your menu to make it stand out a little more.

I'm not proposing you simply copy all the other designers sites out there...I'm saying you need to step into the 'now'. What you're suggesting is that you're setting trends, not following them...and as much as i agree with that, your work doesn't display that.

Just my two cents...best of luck!

A web designer's site should unhesitatingly prove within a couple of seconds that the designer can design both graphically and code-wise.

Sorry, but this site is a mess and no advertisement for design services - in fact it more likely to disuade potential customers. The code too is confused, with the styles in the page code, the body font undefined. Good for not using tables, but if the result is a flavorless box, the coding advantage is lost.

It doesn't fit 800 pixel screen resolution. You write a lot about ecommerce packages and expect people to order them off the page, but I couldn't see a single example of an ecommerce site.

Frankly I think a serious rethink is needed. It's harsh I know, but in the long run a total rethink will only benefit your business...

I have to agree with Paul B on this one. The site is very disorganized, graphically jarring and it's hard to navigate from package to package (I am not a big fan of having to rely on the BACK button all the time).

Simple design stuff:
  • (1)Think clean and concise.
(2)Save details for your client agreement.
(3)Every page needs a link on your menu.
