Default *Warning Lingerie* Please Review! www.wickedtemptations.com

Hi guys, PLEASE HELP!!!

www.wickedtemptations.com Our keyphrases are simple: "sexy lingerie", "lingerie", "sexy bikinis", "bikinis", "thongs", etc.

We've been working on this site for just a little while now, and once we were *almost there* Jagger came along and really did a number on us. This has hurt our client in a pretty bad way. We even fell completely off the radar for "lingerie", and I can't figure out why at all.

Since the update, we added plenty of good, original content to the homepage and subcat pages.

However, we haven't really recovered yet and I see countless terrible sites (& many spammers grrr...) ahead of ours in the SERPs.

What am I missing here? Is there some glaring problem that I've just been looking at for too long?

I would be happy to reciprocate any/all reviews! I'm great at site usability but perhaps not after I've looked at the site forever... THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ALL OF YOUR HELP!!!

Nice Site! Very nice, my wife is checking it out and I can't wait to see what she orders <grin>

With 22 Million results on "lingerie" the only thing I see with your site is the coding on index.html you have no meta tags with your keywords.

But - I could have overlooked them.

OO I say. Careful all of you who wear glasses, they may steam up.

First impressions: The site is good and has a nice feel, but whats it doing over there? I am viewing your site on Mozilla at 1280 x 1024 and your main content is over the right-hand side of the page leaving some very blank pink space on the left.

Also you need to rethink your navigation at the top. 3 rows at the top in different formats doesn't come across as organised and there only 2 things on the 3rd row anyway.

Looking into the catalogue, I now see why you have that gaping space: To preview the further pictures of the garments (or is it the models?). I would say rethink the small images format, for example adjust the thumbnail images so that when a person clicks the smaller image, it replaces the main picture. At the moment, it is kind of forced upon you. Even at a lower resolution the larger pictures seem to jump out on you.

HTH. Feel free to PM me or post here, if you would like me to look into this any further.

Thanks so much for your time, Snerdey. I do have meta tags, it's just that the Yahoo store groups them with the title tag so they're not at the beginning of their own line in the source code.

Apart from that, our site dropped from #11 to #84 after this last update, and now sits behind competitors' subpages (eck) and also behind sites that I know are less informative and have less popularity. So what's going on here? Do you have any other ideas as to what can be done for me to regain/reclaim earlier positions lost?

Again, thanks so much for the time, because you're really helping out! Please let me know if you need a review as well, and I'm all over it. :D

Thanks for that tip! I appreciate your time so much, and really want to express my gratitude for the time you spent. I will definitely take care of that.

Those are great suggestions. We felt we had to shift the site to the right because so many visitors are still viewing the site on low-res screens. Moving it over was the only way to allow for the larger pictures to pop up. Our visitors have loved those. But is that hurting my position in the search engines? I've heard conflicting responses to that question. I am considering a redesign of the internal product pages, but my major question is what needs to be done in order to better my place in the SERPs...

Please let me know if there is a site I can review for you. Again, thanks so much!

I'm not sure I follow the rationale...if the page was built in percentages, you could easily have it centered.

There are a whack of validation errors on it, which you may look into fixing up. Also, there is no content whatsoever for the SE's to read until about three quarters thru that big page of code. You may want to use includes to get ur scripts and CSS styling out of your html page.

Hope that helps.

abhilash79:

after reading your explanation, it does seem like you did some research before aligning your site to right and you have actual reason for doing so.

however, the fact remains: optically-speaking, the human eye is naturally attracted to the left side of the page first (except for those who read right-to-left). because of that, visitors will probably be caught off guard by this particular choice. the right alignment also looks like a design mistake was made, even tho it was done this way on purpose.

just something to consider.

As far as SEO goes and judging by your page code, I would also recommend taking out your inline CSS and scripts and moving them to external files.

Also as its near Christmas, how about selecting keywords that are more for the problem than the solution. For example, "presents for her" (gets 57.5 million hits in Google) "Unique christmas presents" (8 million) and lets face it, not all men know what they are getting the wife, etc for Christmas.

As for the page being at the right, even at low resolution these images float and are a bit too "in your face". Forgive me for asking the question, (I certainly don't mean to sound rude), but who are you designing your site for: the shoppers who buy the goods or viewers who like to look at pretty ladies?

I know that given the trade, theres a very fine line between the 2, but with images that jump out like that, it can be a bit alienating to the average person.

HTH
