Default I'm a newbie - please analyse my site!

Hi,

I've basically been building websites for the last 3 months or so, so I'm still a newbie. Plus I have absolutely no training so I taught myself.

I have a website called "Pixel-Lotteries.com" and would like suggestions on how to improve it in search engine rankings and also in presentation/design etc... The URL for the site is at the bottom in my signature.

And yeah it's one of those pay per pixel sites, I just wanted to see if these sites really do make any cash... plus it's a concept that really interested me.

Anyway thanks for your time! :)

Sorry I forgot to read the "Sticky" before posting this. I'll analyse my site using that and then post this thing again (how do you delete your posts???)

Default Just So You Know

I run a site promotion site as well. I opened you page and got nothing out of it. I was not even interested on clicking any of the links. The top right is not readable. You need to have some kind of content that will hook and spark interest. Good Luck

the moment i open your site, i saw a grid.. now, what's so interesting about that grid?

this is one example of how a picture does not equate to a thousand words.. tryin putting some content instead, make ppl understand what is pixel advertising and how it can help us?

Thanks for you suggestions.

Webmaker: Which particular text are you talking about? The block of text under "welcome to pixel-lotteries"?

Also I admit there is no content on the homepage, but I am in the process of updating the site and writing a section on how pixel-advertising can help.

Please keep in mind it's a new site (running for less than 2 weeks) so I haven't had much time to set it up as I'd like to just yet. (Plus I've got exams now so I won't have much time for a while... :( )

Anyway thanks again for your input, I appreciate it!

Oh yeah, please ignore the section explaining about how the lotteries on "Pixel Lotteries" will work as I recently found out that you need a gaming licence for that so I'll be taking it off my site all together.

Default You fixed the writing

Looks like you fixed the writing up in top right and replaced it with an image. That is better. You have a link to your homepage on your home page. I have been seeing this alot. Also, I think that you should still come up with some content that will spark some interest. If you spark some interest on your start page then people will go deeper. Think about all of the good things about your pixel thing and put them on the front page. A descriptive link. I would make your links page two fold. Set up a section for all of your paid advertisers. Then have a section for people to add thier links for free. I think that you will find that you will get more action. Good Luck

Thanks for all the advice. I'll work on the points you suggested and get back to you. I have written a section on how pixel-advertising can help but it's not on the homepage but in the section "why advertise here".

One thing about pixel-advertising is I think it really has to be on the homepage? If I place more text on the homepage surely that will compromise the effectiveness of the adverts? I dunno, please give me your views on this.

Maybe you could give free space to a few businesses in your area. People may be put off by the fact that there isnt anything there yet, if they see that others are using the space then it might get the ball rolling.

Yeah that's true. I'll think about offering free adverts as well on the homepage but at the moment I'm slightly busy (I'm a student and Ive got exams next week!).

Again thanks a lot for all your comments!

this is a little off topic but your website gave me a great idea...

what if there was a pixel gambling website? Each pixel would cost a certain amount of money i.e. $1 per pixel to the users. Some pixels could be worth $5, $10, $25, $50, $100, $500, and other prizes also. The user wins if they pick the right pixels! There could be a 3000 pixel grid that people could pick there pixels from ($3000 if grid gets full). after the end of the game the pixel graph would be revealed to the user and shows the prizes they could win!

Does this sound like a good idea? Has this form of gambling ever been thought about? HAH, i might've just made someone a millionaire...

Lol I'm sorry to disappoint you but yeah there are sites out there who are doing just that! :)

I was going to run a similar idea but apparently I need a gaming license before I do it. Not sure if that's true or not because a lot of people seem to be offering prizes so I'm gonna check it out sometime.

I haven't really had time to research into it yet. I'm a uni student and I've got exams soon so I've been working instead...

But yeah I agree, probably going to be really expensive!
