Hi,

I'm facing a problem. How can I improve the navigation without breaking the concept? How can I increase the visit time?

Any feedback on the whole site is also welcome.
Here is an extract of collected data.

I would put the navigation at the top or left or right sides. The idea isn't new (your site), but it's a different concept. Kinda cool.

Thank you very much for the answer.
I will put the taskbar at the top for all the normal pages but not for the main page. With Firefox, I used position:fixed so it is always visible. But with IE, it doesn't work. I have not found yet a way to work around this IE bug.
The 'tell a friend' page seems ignored and was used only twice in three weeks. Should I remove it? Do you think people would subscribe a ML?

Done.
I have put the taskbar at the top. Seems a lot easier now to navigate. I will check the stats in one day or two to see if the length of visit has increased.
Any other suggestion?

This is a cute idea. I like the ebay auction as a sales method, too. The only problem is, it's a little bit scary. I clicked pretty much everything, figuring you wouldn't be mean enough to post a dangerous site here. Also, my pc has a chronic virus anyway, so I don't have a lot to lose. ;) But, even so, if I came across this surfing, I would probably be afraid to click. There are just so many gimmicky sites out there which are either malicious or porn doorways. It may inspire more confidence if you can get a few links to very safe, inocuous-sounding sites.

Hi Ccera,
Thank you for your comment. I understand your concern but I think the terms and conditions are quite clear:
No obscene or offensive images or links will be accepted, and I decide what is appropriate for my desktop.
Remember this is my real desktop (at home) and I have 3 children (even if they have their own account, they use mine sometimes because WinXP is buggy and some games don't run in a non-admin account). I agree some safe links would insipire more confidence - but every one is waiting. OTOH, I have put some icons in my reserved space (on the left) but I don't want to clutter the main area (it would n't be nice for the first customer).
Regards, S.

I'm trying to think of how you can make surfers feel more secure about clicking. Once you get more ads, it shouldn't be an issue anyhow.
How about if you used some of your mouseovers as mini policy statements, instead of just the 'your link here' bit? Then it won't mess up your appearance, but people would have access to the info w/o clicking.
Just a thought.

Excellent idea! Now I will have to come with a good text (and code than run on IE and FF). What do you think of:
"This link is safe for every one to click. We only accept advertisers offering legal services."
Do you think it would be well perceived in US?
Did you mean something else?

BTW, I also want to start an affiliation program very soon. I have descrived it there:

but I didn't get any feedback. I would welcome your opinion.

Regards, S.

That's exactly what I had in mind. And, yes, it would be fine in US.
I will check out your other post.

Hey Serious,
Thank you for adding your site to the yoddle directory. Your idea is novel and I wish you luck.

@ccera
I put a tooltip with the text, that disappears after 6s. It sounded better than a mouseover. Do you think it is OK? Does it stay long enough?

@webmaker
You welcome. May Yoddle be the next Google/Yahoo.

Default Tool Tip

Looks OK, maybe try 8 secs. I had time to read it, but I was looking for it.
I liked your ocean better than the spider.

You're right, 6s was too short. I changed it to 9s. For the background, I set a new photo regulary. BTW, I like the spider because the photo is nice and brings the association with the web.
Thank you very much for all your comments, it was very helpfull!

Thank you for all the feedback.
I have made many updates since with good results: longer visit time, deeper visit and more clicks.
I would welcome more comments.
