Default www.ServissTranscription.com - Please review for novice!

Hi all -

Any suggestions would be terrific!! I used a little free sitebuilding program to create this, update it often, but am afraid it looks/feels as elementary as are my skills in design! I understand very little about HTML and have not had the time to learn much, so any suggestions might need to be from the "Tips for Dummies" handbook. Actually a bit embarrassed to submit... But here goes, as it obviously needs help!

Thanks in advance!

Default Why so modest?

I think it's a very good site. Simple, easy to navigate, well presented with a bit of nice graphical embellishment.

One comment: some of the pages fit into an 800 by 600 screen size and some don't. NoOffShore.html is fine, but the home page is too wide. May I suggest looking at how that page is constructed and using those techniques on the other pages? (BTW, you can change the resolution of your page by going into Settings, Control Panel, Display, Settings on the Start menu.)

For a sitebuilder, via your webhost I'm guessing, the site doesn't look too bad really - don't beat yourself up too much.

I would first suggest changing your titles to shorter, descriptive elements with less adjectives; save the promo words for your text.

You logo on various pages are linked and not to your home page - not a good move in my opinion. Users will generally clich the logo when it's linked looking for a quick route back to the home page, not for a link that launches a new window to "rewards" - or worse as is the case of your home/index page, the logo is an email link.

You might try to maintain a consistent theme and color throughout too. i.e. CarrerOps.html looks too different IMO.

If you're willing to offer $100 for new client finders fee, you might consider investing in a professional redesign or some software that will give you more control on the build and upload to your host via FTP. The crap code that sitebuilder and other like DIY's put in the pages do not do much for the validity and ranking.

Good Luck!

Oh thank you both! Very excellent suggestions!! I will make the changes suggested and definitely look into better software and/or bringing in a pro.

I definitely agree about all the garbage embedded in the site from the sitebuilding software! I haven't been brave enough to attempt to clean it up myself though. I know just enough to be dangerous, I think.

Again, very, very useful information. I appreciate it!!
