Default Review: www.cubeshark.com

Hi All,

I just did a redesign of my portfolio site (www.cubeshark.com), and would like your comments.

Its not done (the content that is), but the layout is done. My aim was for simplicity, and crisp design, with an emphasis on adhering to w3c standards.

Thanks in Advance.

Any way of making the shark in the water a little smaller. It seems to want to over power you the first time you look at the site.

Might want to add more content.

Seems to be a very small main page. First I have seen. Don't know if that makes any differences.

Thanks for the comments.

The layout was specifically made small. The designs I created for simplicity and to the point.

I will be adding more content, I just finished the site a few hours ago :)

Again, thanks for the comments.

Might want to repost when you add more content. Will give a different look when done. I will try to be watching for it.

I completely missed your portfolio section first 2 times I looked at your site.

Think it's because it's where the *home* link usually lives... you might want to swap concept and portfolio for that reason?

Shark fin is poorly optimized, would up the jpeg quality myself.

Otherwise, IMO it's purely a marketing preference whether you like it or not, as it is well executed. I liked it, but would add more content on internal pages but that may not sit well with your concept - though your portfolio work doesn't scream your concept, pretty regular (nice) designs.

I intend to simplify my homepage to try and give it a clearer message, so I understand you've worked hard to KISS, less is definately more in some instances.

Thanks for that feedback.

The images are in jpg format, but I see your point with the shark fin.

From the comments already received, I'll work on that shark image. The optimization for the jpgs are low to accomodate downloads, but nonetheless, i'll give it a go.

Yes! The content, lack of a better word, "sucks". I am working on my keyword and marketing angles, so I'll be adding shortly.

Thanks guys!!

All-in-all, it's a decent design...I like the colours, it's a simple layout to follow through, and fairly well presented.

It's kinda a little too on the narrow side for my liking, but i see what you're going for.

Good work tho!

If you've got a moment, could you please review my site
here.

Thanks!

I like your initial instincts and gut feelings on creating this one. I agree..it could be a bit wider in layout ...as to take charge of more "web-space presence". Also...you could use more content...(squeezed into a wider format you could practically keep the same height attribute). ( And arrange content into a workable layout )
I think the use of you photo headers is really nice..I enjoy the imagery very much. I feel a conection to the Title on each page with each photo header.

Keep up the innovative look .and good W3C work

Thanks for the tips All!

I am going to redesign, and take into account all the comments.

Does anyone know a great place to get background textures? I have been getting mixed comments on the background...

Appreciate it all!
