Default Snow-UK mountain sports website for the UK

Hi everyone,

I would really like to you have a look at my site www.snow-uk.info, feel free to register, if you can find the link! Do you think its too hard should I make it easier?

What are your general feeling for the site? all comments are welcome.

What do people think about the name, I think the hyphen was a mistakes as it seems to cause confusion with the search engines nay one know a way round this apart from another domain?

Thanks
Andrew

It didnt help that the hyperlink you supplied had some extra characters in it.

Loose the justified text. Left align it.

Page is pretty long.

Images need better cropping.

Xscape image too large for page.

A white page can look great if the images bring it to life. These images are all too dark.

Sorry about the link, my mistake.

thanks for the advice greghart.

Few questions.. what images would you say need cropping as the images on the right are feed direct from webcams and have a black border as default. the latest photo image is also created on the fly but I dont know why it creates this border.

Why do you feel that the xscape image is too large?

It intresting what you say about the colour scheme as other visitors really like it, for the whole not in you face aspect.

The front page it quite long but I was alos told that in this day and age websites should be very top heavy, whihc this is and it is also backed up by reports that most web users these days (70 - 80% I believe) are willing to scroll down a page before leaving it.

Thanks for your advice

Dont get me wrong I dont mind the colour scheme it is nice and clean but as an overall look the site looks bland.

If they have a black border there is no reason they cant be on top of a backgroung image with perhaps curved corners.

You can have a lot of calls to action on your front page that entice people into the rest of the site. I think you could half the amount of text before your readmore links.

You seriously need to try left aligning your text. It just doesent work especialy on a narrow column.

You couls also increase the padding around most text blocks.

You could also have dummy cam feeds up which look a bit more enticing instead of the live feeds.

Here are a couple of ski sites from NZ:
