Default Help needed with Snooker and Pool site

Hi all,

I have been advised to post this request to you guys in the hope that you may be able to help me with a clients site. The site layout and template can't be changed that much as my client is very happy with it. However, the issue I have is to do with optimising the site for certain keyword phrases.

www.snooker-and-pool.co.uk is an online shop for the retail of home snooker and pool tables. I have tried to get the site optimised for the following phrases:

home snooker tables
home pool tables
snooker and pool (yes, I know the 'and' doesn't count)

The site has been online since Nov last year and is featuring well in most SE's except Google and Yahoo, where it features on about page 36 of the results.

Can anyone give some advise on improving this site for the above search phrase and help get it out of this so called mith 'sandbox' that it appears to be stuck in?

Do you have many dialup users? The page is about 141K - that would be large.

I am not an seo pro, but I like my keywords to be 3-4% of my text - none of yours was over 1% - It might be the spider is having a hard time figureing out what the site is about?

pool tables - 5 - 0.99%
snooker tables - 4 - 0.79%
games tables - 4 - 0.79%
co uk - 3 - 0.59%
pool co - 3 - 0.59%
tables pool - 3 - 0.59%
contact us - 2 - 0.40%
home snooker - 2 - 0.40%
tables table - 2 - 0.40%

Thanks Gary for your comments,

The site is quite heavy on images and when tested on a dial-up that averages 48kbps - the home page takes a little over 40secs to fully appear. I did give the option to my client to remove some of the images but they were happy to keep it as it is. However, the index page does have too much text and as you say, this might be part of the reason for it not appearing well within certain SE's.

I think I will remove some of the non-relavent text to the main search phrases and place it elsewhere on the site.

Again - thanks for your time..

Nice one snowflakegirl,

yep - it is a nice little utility, I like the way the results are shown.

As to my problem, it shows I could improve the keyword distrubution but the page still should be showing up better on Google. It's that sandbox thingie again... :(
