Hi
We have a website that has been running for about a year and we do get to No 1 on the major search engines for our niche market "surfing thailand" but we have been trying to increase our hits and broaden our popularity. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
Thank you
Somjai

Hi,

If you wish to improve your rankings, you will need to do a few things, IMHO!

1. Get some proper hosting... free hosting does not do your site any favours at all!

2. Either change your menu from the current javascripted menu - some search engines cannot follow these links! - to a plain text and html menu, OR make a sitemap page with html/text links to all the site's pages, and link to it from all the other site-pages in a plain text/html format.

3. Use CSS to define font/text/colour and size, not the font tag - deprecated for ages!

4. Seriously consider simplifying your homepage... put all the external resources on another page within the site, so all the links on your homepage are pointing to pages within the site with keyword rich links that include the title sub-tag.

5. Get some more relevant sites linking to yours to increase your Google pagerank (currently 3/10).

I also have a number of Kenyan tourism sites on the web and find that it is hard work, but well spent time, to increase your rankings as high as you can get them to go!!

Have fun

Default Thanks

Will take your suggestions. Currently working a few already. One question though, I do have a lot of links from relevant sites to me and previously they used to show up in Google but now they don't. Since then my site ranking has dropped. If I do a link check by searching my URL only a lot of these sites then show up. Do you know why?

Kind regards
Somjai

Default Some tips For home page

Some tips for your home page:-

Out of your 30 images, 18 images have no ALT tag. (alternative text for non-image browsers) Add those tags.

You use 4 [script] tags, of which 3 have no NOSCRIPT tag. Scripts can not be read by search engines. Provide [noscript] tags and/or move the scripts to an external .JS file.

Home page does NOT provide the /robots.txt file.

META Keywords: The word surf was repeated 6 times
The word surfing was repeated 4 times
WARNING! THIS TAG MAY BE DISQUALIFIED!

I think once you correct these things the basic would be in place.

Thanks,
Amit
