Default Site is slipping in Yahoo, opinions please

Hi all,
MY site

www.downdogsales.biz has been sliding the wrong direction in Yahoo from a high of 23 to around 40 now. I have been trying to tweak it but have run out of ideas. It is in a highly competitive term.

THanks

monty

You have this in your code twice

<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">

You might want to take out the revist and let them visit everyday.

I also noticed that you have some code that does nothing/does not go to anything.

Change your copy right to 05

You posted on here once before. You had a ton of hits. Site still looks good. Have you checked out your hit words?

The site is doing okay but I had a lot more traffic a couple of months ago. After using WebCEO and following its advice my site has consistantly slid down. I do track my key words closely, there are a lot of them which is good. But the main driver for this site is" lingerie" which has diminished as it has moved down to 41 with Yahoo. I have spent tha past week trying to clean up all the code errors that knock it out of compliance. So it is somewhat slicker. I also have looked at several of my competitors sites and several do not have very much text on the main page. So I have decided to cut that down. I suppose Ill have to wait a week or 2 to see if that helps.

Default you used webceo?

Hi Moneytx...

You said that your site has been slipping after using webceo? I just ran your site through webceo and found several problems with the site... maybe you should try again... here's the quick list

*Page has too few words
*None of your keywords are bold
*Keyword 'lingerie' should appear atleast 3 times in the <body> it appears 0
*Keyword is too far from the beginning of the page
*Keyword doesn't have enough weight on page
*Keyword is in 11 alt tags when it should not be in more than 6 (first 3 and last 3)
*Internal link structure is dynamic try to follow the webceo instructions to move away from that and use keyword rich .htm's with -'s not _'s

hope that helps a little

That is what I dont understand. I know the site does not have a lot of text. I nuked most of it. But here is what is left:
Welcome Guest! Would you like to log yourself in? Or would you prefer to create an account?

Sexy Lingerie is what Bracli is all about. We now carry it and have put the entire line of Bracli Pearl thong lingerie on sale at 20% off. Hurry, this want last long.

Visit our newest store Ladybug Costumes Online for your sexy halloween costumes.
LIngerie is listed 2 times not 0. Which make me wonder why webCEO is not picking up on it.

Since you're using OSCommerce, you might want to install the mod that creates search engine friendly URLs. That could be a contributing factor with your current site.

hey Tx...
go in and manually change this... Remember that content is KING and the SE's don't really care if you have a nice site selling lingere if you don't give anything to the reader! Try to use 250 words using your 3 main keyphrases in bold But do not let it come across as keyword stuffing. Look at what the SE's pick up about your site now. (usually the first 25 words... so do you want people to find your site from this?)

Welcome Guest! Would you like to log yourself in? Or would you prefer to create an account?

Sexy Lingerie is what Bracli is all about.(25 words)

your keyword is in there but not the same as in your code...
Another reason that it probably isn't picking it up is because you do not have the content in your <body> tag. (do this manually if need be) The best part of SEO is Trial and Error! I am sure these suggestions will help, try them out and let me know ;)
Also what Marcie said about installing a MOD to create search engine friendly URL's is what I meant when I said to change from dynamic to static / keyword rich URL's ;)

I have SEO URLS installed. Works very well. I get a lot more referrals to inside pages as a result. I think I fugured out why webceo was not seeing the text in the body. I had to body tags. I can only gues that it intrepreted the second as the closer. As a test Im going to let the small amount of text stay on the page for a couple of weeks and see where the site moves. Ill then reinsert 250 words.

Thanks for all your advice. I appreciate it!
