| Submit Your Site For Review Need a fresh set of eyeballs to take a look at your site? Have a specific issue or question about some aspect of your layout, design or interface? This is the forum for you. When submitting your site, be sure to discuss what aspect you are looking for input on. Just posting a link with the word 'review' isn't appropriate. |

Decided to take a different approach and experiment with CSS in the redesign of my Photography website http://www.robertmedinacook.com ...Any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated...especially curious to know how (or if) it all holds together in different browsers...and if not, what can be done to fix it! Thanks in advance....

The site can't be found (DNS error) at this end, and the traceroute ends in a series of timeouts. Is it down, perhaps?

Site looks OK but, there seems to be a LOT of white space. (Perhaps too much, in my opinion)
The home page has a horizontal scroll bar at my resolution of 1280x1024 and when I changed the resolution to 800x600 the page did not realign itself to fit the new resolution (so the horizontal scroll was even more prominent). You might want to fix that so it looks good on all resolutions. I do like the way the galleries are set up and how the thumbnails are expanded. Make sure the thumbnails are all the same size, though. If they're not, they'll throw off the alignment of the table and look off-center (check the "expressions" gallery for an example of this) |

My apologies ...the site was being tweaked based on everyone's recommendations so it was down for a short time...not exactly sure what to do about the scrollbar issue...open to suggestions...appreciate the comments so far...keep 'um coming!

Site looked fine. Came up really fast. Went from page to page without any problem. Nice looking site.

I got the horizontal scrollbar too, but only on the home page.
I think (but I'm not sure) that it may be due to two properties, one in the body and one in the wrapper: Your body has a 50% left margin. Your wrapper is 696 pixels wide. I'd say this is more your offending property than anything, since some elements appear to fall outside of the wrapper boundaries. Overall, I like the site. It's very clean and you shoot some nice stuff.

Thanks Amigo....you were right...Had set the body to 50% and the wrapper to a left -348px in order to center in the browser...guess it didn't work as well as I'd hoped...nice catch and thanks again to all for the comments... Keep 'um coming..... Robert |

Just wanted to thank all for your contributions...really helped tighten the site up. Since i redesigned the site to be table-less (except for the contact form) was hoping for more feedback concerning browser compatibility and maybe a few SEO tips...any and all suggestions in these and other areas would be greatly appreciated....thanks again....Robert

As far as on-the-page SEO factors go, you really can't do all that much with your site anyway. The basic premise of your site is graphic and the SEs are textual.
So...your one shot is going to be on your homepage. You should really look at around 100-150 words for your text, with three or four keywords/phrases being mentioned and focused on. It helps to hyperlink those keywords/phrases to their corresponding sections to (e.g. Black and White Photography links to your B&W gallery). If I were to guess quickly at some of your key phraes, I would focus on: New Mexico photography (or photographer) Albuquerque photography/photographer studio photography etc. After that, go out there and start telling anyone who will listen to give you a link on their site. (I'd say asking anyone, but that's polite and I don't feel the need to be right now. :) ) One of the easiest ways to get inbound links is to put a link to your signature in various forums (such as this one) with the keywords as your anchor text. If you want to know how to do it, there's a form blank called "Signature" in your "Edit Profile" link. Put the following in the form blank for a hyperlink and you should start seeing some results: Code:
New Mexico Photographer
