I thought I'd mix it up a little bit here.

This is a website for a local rock club in downtown Lexington, Kentucky. I completely designed and maintain this website. I will be issuing a redesign before the year is over, which will be mostly composed of Flash. We aren't the most popular club in town, but we are gaining attention very fast. I hope you all enjoy...there might be some frameset problems in certain browsers.

Site best viewed in IE @ 1024x768. Mostly composed of PHP in bottom frames.

Hey Frankie. I thought I'd kill some time late at night. Site looks nice. I like the layout. The only suggestion I'd have would be to snazz up the subpages a bit, like maybe put all the links into a table with some colors or, if those linked to will let you, a picture for each one. And maybe do tables instead of frames since it's disconcerting when the barbershop-looking sidebar doesn't scroll all the way. Sorry, I guess I'm a table fiend. Colors and logo are real nice. Great job with the look and feel. I might have to hit this place up sometime. Later. -SD

I like the design.maybe a blog/forum type page for members????
The google ads all have public service announcements, so are not earning you any money. The ads are targeted to the page by the content text. As your pages have very little content text, google cannot assertain what the site theme is so they put up the charity ads instead. Maybe you could add a couple of paragraphs of keyword rich text describing the type of music your club plays? or the musical artists that enspire the club. This'll then bring the correct ads and you may start to eran some money from click.

Splash page? Frames? Two throwbacks from the 20th century that you should very seriously think of dropping in that re-design later in the year.

It doesn't look a very fun place to be. Even the boss looks unhapppy! Likewise the act from June 3 (who it says performs on Jun 29??)

The design is novel enough, but is it suitable for a rock club?

My first impression on the design scheme is "barbershop". Plus, the color scheme is too green and not a new green. I'd recommend giving the site an infusion of another color (or two) to feel a little more rock-n-roll.

Like Paul B., I question the Flash entry screen that does nothing and the frame layout... That's a pretty dated design.

Yeah I mean, for the most part, I'll be honest with everyone. I designed this site late in my first year in college, and I knew going into the project I wasn't getting paid for it (at least with money). The boss just needed something fast and simple so that shows and links and such could be placed there. Its funny you all mentioned barber-shop, that never crossed my mind until now...I personally don't think I did as bad as you all have led on, the boss likes it and so have a lot of other people that frequent the club. As for the ad's we were doing fine and the boss's host made him drop those in, considering we don't pay for hosting. In terms of the boss being unhappy, its only cus he couldn't have the woman he is pictured with. And suitable for a rock club? Lol you should see the other club sites in this town. And yes the redesign later this year will be MUCH different. Maybe I'll post it, maybe I won't. Frankly, I don't like all the negativity here! :P

This is classic coming from a forum mod! Hey, the idea of posting a site here is not to wallow in praise, but to see what improvements can be made.

If I can quote from the 'Guide for newbees' sticky up top:
"... please remember that when a member posts a request for a review, they're looking for honesty, not fishing for compliments. Don't say a site looks good just because you don't want to hurt a person's feelings. Try to be honest with them - but gently!"
