This is a site for a legal software company that targets small to large law firms and corporate legal departments. 95% of our target market has broadband access. A conversion is counted when a visitor submits a request for more info.

We are still working on the metatags and other search related code features, but would be more than happy to hear form anyone with SEO or general design comments.

Default Nice design

Nice design. Parts of it take a bit long to load though.

I looked at the source and noticed this meta tag:

Quote:
<META content="timematters, Time Matters, ProLaw, calendaring, legal practice software, HotDocs, law practice management software, PC law, legal office software, legal practice management software, legal document software, law firm software, law office management software, docketing software, pclaw, practice management systems, legal billing, attorney software, litigation software, law office software, software for attorneys, software for lawyers, Time Slips, Legal Billing Software, legal time billing, case management, Legal Case Management, collection legal software, case management software, time billing software, trust accounting software, attorney billing software, practice management software, Legal Case Management Software, billing lawyer software, practice management, timeslips" name=keywords>
It's a bit mudled. The correct format is:

<META name="keywords" content="keyword 1, keyword 2, etc">

Also, too many keywords.

I know you said you're working on them, but I just thought I'd say that anyway :)

...there's no robots.txt - You should add one, because sites have been known not to be listed in Yahoo, just 'coz they have no robots txt.

Here's the robots.txt I use for my sites:

Quote:
User-agent: *
Disallow: /cgi-bin
Disallow: /img
Disallow: /images

User-agent: Googlebot
Allow: /
Disallow: /cgi-bin

User-agent: Googlebot-Image
Disallow: /
You need to take the email address out of the code. You're going to get spammed.

You should use a form for emails, but at the very least you should use an email encryptor, like this:

http://www.nikhef.nl/pub/computing/MailSpamstop.php

The logo should be clickable. If I click the logo, it should take me to the homepage.

You should set the background color of the left menu area to blue. That way it wont look funny while the left menu is loading.

You should take the javascript out of the html and put it in a .js file. Search engines can trip over javascript sometimes.

There's no description Meta Tag ( I know, you're working on it. But just thought I'd add that comment just in case).

Other than that, I really like the design, as I said at the very start. Nice color combinations. Nice graphics. Nice use of flash (even though it makes stuff take longer to load). Maybe you could cut down on it a bit and optimize the images for web as be st you can.

You should also try to re-use images from page to page, so computers can take them from the cache and don't have to re-download them every page.

I think your animations should have a looping limit of, say 5 times, then they should stop until the next time a person hits refresh. I found it somewhat annoying to be in the middle of reading some txt only to have my gaze forced away because the flicker of the ad caught my eye.

They are beautiful, don't get me wrong, but limit their domination of the screen because you want people to read your content, don't you?

Concerning meta tags: I think the keywords should be made from the text that exists on the page itself. Not the kitchen sink of what you want the seo's to pick up on. Don't SEO's penalize you if you pack extraneous keywords that aren't used on the page?

Default robots.txt

Oh no, what are you doing??

Get all those words out of the title!

It's been months since you asked for opinions.

I think you should make a robots.txt and block search engines from crawling the site until you get it right.

If you need more help just ask. I'll answer questions for you.

Even though a large % of your target audience has broadband internet access, your site still takes too much time to load.

When many users visit a webpage, they will be put off in the first few seconds if a) the initial content is not very appealing, or b) the site takes too long to load up. You can't risk losing visitors this way because you want your site to have huge amounts of graphics on it.

But - this can be solved. The flash movie you have at the top is great, leave it. But all of the other images on your page can be compressed further and put into different formats. This way, you can decrease the page's total image size (TIS) and therefore decrease loading times.

Also - as the above poster said, your website could definitely do with a better title. At the moment, you have a huge jumble of related keywords which are saturating the SEO value of the title tag.

You need to select one keyword phrase that you are targeting, and put it in the title. This way, you are maximising your chances on one keyword, rather than competing badly, and failing, on multiple keywords.

If you have any other questions, get in touch.

Why the << to the right of each navigation link? Unless I'm mistaken, they seem redundant and are taking up some space better utilized by your main content area.

You should add a "Site Map" link on the home page.

Too busy. Your customers, I can almost guarantee you, won't like the distractions. Very cookie cutter looking, like a Boxed Art web template that you just changed the photos and text. Remember you're designing for your audience and not you per se...

I read all the post, took a look at your site.
Also did a quick manual look in the bench mark google.
What's all the hubbub! Your site is well indexed.

You are getting some great ranked keyword hits.
The site has a great design and layout. The flash
is excellent. It is impressive in my opinion.

Your meta tags: well yes they are a bit much and some
what muddled. You really can eliminate some.
You just don't need all the extra tags. But hey its
a legal web site! So guess you need them.
The site has a P/R of 4/10 but page rank
is not what it is cut out to be. You can have high P/R
and poor rank is the SERPS and visa versa.

I think you are off to a fine start. I am always practicing
with my software and feel pretty good this evening.
I ran a short report for you. You can view it here.

I you don't have the capabilities for full extensive reports
in the SE's feel free to contact me.

Default Quick comment.

Others have commented on design and technique, so only a minor remark.

Excellent contact info in the upper right and lower left corner. In mye view, too much blinking / flash like my own site. Enough with one at a time, and it could be more relaxing.

No problem with linking to that site. Pagerank another +
