Hello: I would really like to have some feedback about our site. We are students/grads who just want to help others have positive computer experiences - and are willing to put in extra time, or our time, to make sure we accomplish this task. Comments would really be appreciated. The site url is: http://www.ehteam.org . Thanks.

Here are a few quick suggestions:
The image on the first page that says "Welcome to Canada's......" should probably be a gif instead of a jpg. I think this would make it look better. Same thing on the associate page with the picture at the bottom. I don't like the colored table backgrounds. I don't think they look professional. The navigation is easy to use. good luck. |

After reviewing about 20 sites this morning, your site almost rendered me speechless...I don't know where to begin...it's so, so 1990's!
Your team offers website design services but (and I really, really don't want to say this) you need a website designer. Unless I've got it wrong and you are going for the total computer nerd/geek look - and if that's the case I'd suggest injecting more humor and a few computer geek cartoons here and there (like the old frog at the computer animation among others) I like the navigation buttons. There's no need to name the navigation bar "NAVIGATION" as most users have that one figured out. The site looks like it is encased in frames but isn't. Why make it look that way? There is no color "scheme" or style that I can ascertain. The grey background went away years ago for good reason, it's ugly and boring. Why use it? And for gosh sake, why have you colored all page text backgrounds like that? Your fonts have no particular style or pizzaz! Please peruse the internet and look at what your competition is doing and try to emulate. And please, please understand that I am not telling you this to be mean spirited. What did you graduate in? Sure enough wasn't web design.
Snowflake: it doesn't even say "NAVIGATION" it says "NAV IGATION". "We are a team of IT Specialists from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, hence our name "EH" Team." - sorry you lost me. Must be Alberta humor... "Our costs will surprise you" - that's all I need...

The best thing a web site can do is look at others in the same area. Take a look at The Geek Squad site -- similar idea, but slightly different execution. (This version isn't quite what it once was, but click around, you'll get the idea).
Besides having almost the same idea as EH Team, they take the idea and run with it. It's not just superficial web styling with Geek Squad. They take the idea and weave it into the actual business process. This can be done with as little as a few dollars and an army surplus catalog. They did all the heavy lifting -- don't copy them; learn from them. -- Make the theme drive the package deals you offer. -- Have your business style reflect military or -- as was the storyline of the A-Team TV show -- mercenary values. (hey, you picked the theme) -- Have "boot camps" -- Do "Ops" ....Create "strategems of computing" (It's not like it hasn't been done before). Despite the connected nature of the internet, sites still get designed as if in a competition-free vacuum. At the least, any site can survey available ideas and integrate them into a winning design. Take the cheap, superficial, meaningless gimmick and make it mean something. |

I'll throw in my 2 cents with another web design tutorial. It's a must-read (or watch).
