| Submit Your Site For Review Need a fresh set of eyeballs to take a look at your site? Have a specific issue or question about some aspect of your layout, design or interface? This is the forum for you. When submitting your site, be sure to discuss what aspect you are looking for input on. Just posting a link with the word 'review' isn't appropriate. |

Mark,
I love it. The bulletin board is great. The only comment I'd make: I'd put a border around the shed on the landing page, and move everything up, even if you have to make the photo smaller, so that the sponsor shows above the fold. Great job. Kathleen

?!? I never realized that there was a need for people to gather and talk about sheds...it really sounds like an old Monty Python routine. I'm just crackin up here ^_^
OK - get to the review... Too much Google ads, and lose the green borders. It is my suspicion that the more Google ads you have on a page the less $$ Google pays. I tested my theory last year and noticed the more Google ads I placed on a web page the less income I made. 2+2 theory After thi initial impression I have no more comments about the site because I really don't want to talk about sheds. ^_^ snowflakegirl http://www.papersnowflakes.com |

With regards to your site, I think you need to think about getting rid of all of those green borders everywhere. Change the text at the top to something a bit more pleasing on the eye, and.... Google Ads! I've never seen so many of them on one page! You're not actually allowed to do that - and if Google catch you, then they'll halt your membership in the programme. Have a look at their Terms and Conditions. I think you could replace the buttons as well, but it's up to you. Oh, and you should get rid of the big blue border that has 'happened' around the image due to an HREF. Change your Page Properties.

Mark,
Your site is already looking a lot better. You still need to address the title part though - perhaps you could use a banner instead of that text? I've actually been really bored for the last five minutes, so I've made you a very simple banner to size that you can use - it's all yours. Don't worry I'm not going to be offended if you choose not to use it! If you do, I'll give you the code for a link to my site in return for it. Right-click it and Save As... etc.

All of what has been said plus. The phpBB board theme is great and very appropriate. In fact the theme for the homepage should relect the forum theme and therby create site consistency.
Have you checked out the portal mod from http://smartor.is-root.com/viewtopic.php?t=1860 This would allow you to make the whole site to the same theme. I have it is use here http://motornomics.net/forum/ |

BTW, Google does allow multiple ads on a page now.
However I have noticed that the number of ad blocks does affect the bottom line...$$ and the fewer number of ads on the page tends to bring in more income - in my experience. I know about as much as everyone else here about Google's secret algorythems. Adbart, that was a very nice thing to do! Snowflakegirl http://www.papersnowflakes.com |
