Nice job on using CSS.

I for one do not like the font. You have to work too hard to read it on the screen. Try a more clean cut font like the ones in this forum I'm writing in.

When people come to your website and your selling something. You really have to get them to focus on the one thing you want to do. Need less text and maybe just list all the different services and have a photo or small screen shot link to a page just for that service / product.

There is not much of a theme or flow to the site. The menu on the left does not match the center items and then the text on the right just is overwhelming a bit.

Group it up a little.

People are going to look at your site for about 10 sec's and that's all the time you have to catch their attention. You might do well with a flash into template that would tell a little bit about what you do and it's like a movie of your services.

Overall the site has content and everything is working. It's what they are going to do when they get there that brings concerns to mind.

You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink. You can advertise all you want but are they going to buy?

Sorta the same thing.

My reviews are all different. I try to look at each site with a new aspect. Otherwise if you read all my reviews they would be boring.

Some are way off target.. but, hey it's my view.

Take care,

Please text link "web page templates" to www.snerdey.com

If you would please.

Thank you,

Thanks for your detailed comments.

Funny you have a web design template site. My site has content templates. They're listed on: upmarketcontent.com/content-templates.htm Maybe you'd be interested in joining our new affiliate program upmarketcontent.com/partner.htm

Thank you. The coder did a fantastic job (I'm responsible for the layout, but he converted it to CSS--and they say you couldn't do a fixed-width layout in pure CSS). I'd be happy to send you his name.

Do you mean you find serif fonts (Times, Georgia--the one my site uses) in general too hard to read? You find sanserif (Arial, Tahoma) in general easier to read? Or is it just this particular page? Are you sure it's not that the lines are too close together? I've been experimenting with that and am concerned about it.

Was this your impression of the landing page (upmarketcontent.com/website-content.htm)? If you're referring to the homepage, it's not intended as a landing page. I'm considering getting separate domains for website content, online copywriting services, and internet marketing services--as you can probably guess, it started out as just a website content co. For now, that's too much work.

The menu on the left not matching--what do you mean by that? It's pretty much a standard vertical navbar with a few extra options. I am working on overhauling the navbar with something dynamic, but I had to put something up for now.

I think that's the one thing you've written I have to flatly disagree with, unless you know the conventional wisdom doesn't. Have you ever had any luck with flash intros/splash pages? If you have, I'd like to know--everyone says they're the kiss of death.

I am trying to work on building up "resources" and recip. linking. What's your opinion--is it better to put them all on a "resources" page or to sprinkle them throughout the site on the main pages, where they might be more relevant?

It is a nice site. Here are my quick impressions.

Very busy. Lots of text and it is hard to read. Switch to arial to help put in some text boxes to help seperate the text. Links on the left need to be off the border at least a few pixels. I would cut down the text a little and put it some of it on another page. I would also consider making your paragraph text align at the end of the line so things look crisper.
Just my 2 cents.

I think its because the lines are too close together, whatever your taste in font style.

To me, it looks like you may be copying the text from another source like Word? If so, try saving the file as a .TXT file. Then, open the .TXT and all the formatting will be stripped out. Then, when you put it on the site, the text should conform to your pre-assigned styles.

If that's not what you're doing, forget I mentioned it. :-)

what do you mean align at the end of the line? You mean justify the text? Do you have a link to a site that does this?

Thanks.

The site site very heavy.

also I know the site was design for 800X600 but at higher resolutions you have lots of dead space on the right. You might want to modify to lay out to have dynamic spannig of the page (ie the header spans the top of the page . text position adjust to fill from left to right ect..) doing so will allow less scrolling also for people.

The font is a bit off also. If seems crowded have you try using arial, garmond, or helvetica ?

If you need info on the spanning of the page let me know I can provide examples of how its done with the header and such.

Stupid question, but who are the "they" that say that you can't do a fixed-width layout using pure CSS. All you need is a div container with a fixed width just inside of the body tags. Easy. If anything, it's harder to work with a fluid layout than a fixed-width.

Anyway, I'm in full agreement with the comments above. Pick a font, or at most two of the same style, and stick with them. The Georgia font is too hard to read IMHO, and I won't use it unless a client specifically asks me to. That copy would be a lot easier to read as 11px Verdana or Tahoma.

I'm one of the first people to mention that a "call to action" is important, but I think you might have taken it a touch too far. A form on the bottom of every page is a bit much. It's also too "crowded". Do something like this for your form instead:

Field 1 Form Blank 1
Field 2 Form Blank 2
Field 3 Form Blank 3

etc.

Also, you should indicate which (if any) fields are required. This avoids human error and accidental non-gathering of required data.

Space out your menu items on the left, so that you can see them better. Also, you may want to look at a different colour for your hover effect. I'd suggest a bright blue around the #00CCEE area.

Your first sentence should read "UpMarket is..." rather than "...that's UpMarket."

You've misspelled "Corporate" in the left column of that two-column table.

I'm not sure about the placement of the links to external sites on the opening page (WordTracker, iSnare etc.) Why tip others off to what you're doing like that? Keep that stuff under your hat; it's a trade secret.

I think that's all I can come up with.

I'm really not a fan of the narrow center column.. It's hard to read and it just makes the whole front page feel overly crowded.. That right hand column really takes up a lot of space where it probbaly doesn't need to..
