Loads reasonably fast on my 56k modem. Might be nice if the links changed colour when the mouse is passed over them. Overall, a good solid design. All you need now is lots of visitors to get those forums really buzzing. Good luck with it.

Its good, i do think how ever that a style sheet would help you position the text better and cut down on code, something worth looking into.

Downloaded pretty fast, it's a good idea not to use too many large pictures and 'flash' images,a lot of musical sits do, the links were fine also, informative and easy to navigate, have a look at how different your site is to another unknown band, you'll see what I mean, it's a great site in my opinion but the first page is a slow load www.thecoralreefers.com happy listening!

As far as 'design' and 'look' I would say it is fine, however you must fix your audio links!

Such a professional looking site cannot have audio links opening up in a big blank page with only a control bar in it (mine opened the Quicktime player) but that is my default audio plug-in.

There are several options to fix this problem:
1. audio links pop up in a small player window
Use Javascript to open a small window with the name of the track, the artist or DJ, and a little information about it. A close button would be a nice touch, as well.

2. embed audio players in web pages about the artist or DJ that created the track. You could set the default action of the player to 'false' to prevent annoying those who are not interested in auto-playing tracks

3. create a small MP3 player with Flash that can appear in a frame or in a little pop up window. The Flash MP3 player can be designed in such a way that a menu of available tracks, information about the artist/DJ, and the playlist of MP3's could be easily updated.

Another point:
Your MP3's are too large. damagamix.mp3 is 27 MB! Other ones were in the 7-10MB category. Way too large. One easy way to cut them in half: bounce the trax to mono before creating the MP3s.
The first rule of internet audio is MONO unless it absolutely positively has to be stereo... and if you think it has to be stereo, think about it again.

Consider that many people listening to your tracks are going to be on slow dial-up modems with low quality speakers. Only digital audio geeks (like me) have 5 speaker JBL systems for listening to their computers.

But whatever you do, never allow audio tracks to consume an entire browser window with no other content. Especially if the audio page replaces your well designed site with an otherwise empty window!

Most people using a modem will forget the name of the track before enough of it loads to begin playing.... I myself instantly hit my browser's back button when I saw the blank page loading an MP3, and I am using DSL. I want to read about the track or artist while I am waiting for it to load.

One final point:
your MP3s are not download protected. Another reason to go with a Flash-made jukebox of sorts: listeners can only hear the MP3s when loaded into the Flash player. Unless your intention is for the MP3s to be downloaded, in which case you could indicate instructions near the link (right click and save-as, etc...) and give the viewer some idea of the track's file size so that they can decide if they are willing to wait for it.

I don't mean to sound so critical, the site is otherwise quite nice, but if you want people to listen to your featured tracks, you really should shrink 'em a bit and don't lay them out all by themselves in the cold!
