your site is entirely too large... I even had to scroll sideways on 1024 x 768 res. on 800 x 600, I could only see about 2/3 of the page... most people are still viewing on 800 x 600.... it is necessary to accommodate your visitor, not the other way around.
Your font size is too large also, try using 10pt.
your logo/site title is too small and not clear... clean it up, enlarge it and make it obvious what your site name is...
your slogans on each page should be smaller... your site name should be the focal point.
I will say, that you apparently have a great wealth of information about your topic.
I don't particularly like yellow, although perhaps you researched color psychology and yellow suits your topic and products.
Just a few minor adjustments, and your site will look great.

Default I need ideas for http://www.newyouwellness.com

Our site, http://www.newyouwellness.com is good and I know it's too wide. But I am out of ideas for an anchor image and the title bar. Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Default Font Size

I appreciate the critisism, when you say ten point do you mean a one? On the web page font sizes are measures from 1 to 6. Are you refering to a 1 or a 2. I've also heard Verdana is one of the best fonts to use.

Also yellow suggests a fresh bright welcome feeling. But if you don't like the yellow, what color could set if off.

Thanks very much.

size 2 font and yes, Verdana is probably the best font to use.

and when you are creating your site, set your computer settings to 800X600 so that you can see what your viewer is seeing.

Default Logo/Header

I read the psychology about the colors and although it specifically does not mention orange, although yellow is referred to as inexpensive or "cheap", green for food, blue for business, and red for power. Blue conveys the next closes in professionalism, but not the warmth as it is cool. I am going to stick with a yellow/orange, but still think I need something to set it off, although I am considering something closer to tan than orange.

As for the header, I am not into the gratuitouse use of graphics such as 3d but would like suggestions. I know I should put up my name "New You Wellness Weight Loss Supplements" and the catch phrase "Delicious weight loss supplmenets and meal replacements your sure to love!" but am not sure if they should be all in one line or in a paragraph.

Thanks

Yellow in small amounts is very inviting and cheerful. In large amounts it is very hard on the eyes. The pale yellow at the bottom of the page is actually a more 'visual' freindly color than the bright yellow that prevails throughout the site.

The way the site is designed, with the yellow and maroon colors, it's bound to give your visitors a headache if they spend much time on it. Your asking their eye's to adjust constantly because of the spectrum differences.

There was one thing I was happy to see though - vegetarian sloppy joes. Tofu does not make very good sloppy joes, I've learned that, it would be interesting to try a soy based sloppy joe. I'll have to check my local health food store and see if they have any.

I have to say I totally agree with the above coments regarding the colour scheme of the site, and the size of the pages. I find that the yellow gives the site a 'bargain basement' feel. It stresses the eyes and is not particularly pleasent to look at. If you want to stick with the yellow, try saturating the colour a little, so that it's not as bright. Or use a different base colour, and just use yellow to highlight the key areas of the site.

The site has a good layout for portraying a large number of products. But would benefit enormously from a search facility. This is true of any large site, where navigation is a key issue.

The only other thing is the links that you have to Amazon. I would highly recommend that you open up a new window to display these pages is. Use target="_blank" after the URL. Otherwise you are taking your customers away from your site.

Recently my site was reviewed and the color left a sour taste in the reviewers mouth. I have since changed the color but in regards to your site, I think the color seems energetic based on your topic. I think your logo needs to standout better. Your font size for your products could stand to be a bit smaller, but on the whole your site in my opinion has great potential. By the way, how much are those chocolate bars?

Color is important when you're talking about an online market. The wrong color with the wrong graphic can alienate millions of potential customers.

Blue is the safest color on the internet, but creating every website in blue is BORING to say the least.

Yellow attracts the eyes, but to much yellow can be detrimental. It can actually make people argue and babies cry. It has good points and bad point, every color does. With the products you provide on your site, a pastel (cool) yellow would work to your advantage. It would be inviting, friendly, energizing, extroverted, and.....in some cultures it's seen as sacred, in others it is associated with happiness. You'd be winning on all levels.

*crack her knuckles and gets to it...*

I agree that the pages are waaay wide. The yellow, I think is a bit unnerving. You have a "contact us" section, but nothing tells anything about the company, how long it's been around and so forth.

Default Color psycology

I've read a bit on the psycology. Several sites I've seen use the complementary colors blue and yellow/orange. Most sites stick to blue and grey. I've read that green and yello/orange would portray the best feel for the site. Green is fresh, healthy, and orange is inviting and friendly. The site will be mosting green on white accented with the orange. I am staying away from the crayon colors and using a light shade of olive green and a shade of flat gold. Purple is a color you don't want as it suggests expensive or regal feelings.

Thank you all for your input. I have takin to heart and am working on a protype to have you all review before going live. What I have I've posted here...

Thanks again.

I'll try to be brief.

1. Fix your site width problem. This sort of things should not happen to professionally designed sites. To me as a customer it says: if they can't take care of such a simple thing, how would the handle my credit card information? What's the relevance of that sunset image anyway? It seems like it's the one that's pushing your header off the screen.

2. Why clutter your header with such a pointless statements as: "This popup free site was Updated December 3, 2003"? Does it mean this site was sitting all by itself for the last 2 weeks? So... it's not really a serious business, but rather a sporadic attempt at ecommerce?

3. Organize your links. Currently you have them left, top and center. Think of the path you want your visitors to take.

4. I do not believe your shopping cart was intended to be where it is now. What I read currently is this: "You can look and feel better! My Cart"

5. Please remove the brown background from the subject lines in the copy. Change it to <h3> or something similar.

6. If you must know how many visitors come to your site, get an invisible counter. FC counter by bCentral is what used to be LinkExchange counter and is so 1995. Unless you can impress your visitors with a heavy traffic to your site, there's no need to confess to it's poor performance. Did you know, that every time you reload your site this counter counts it as a unique visitor. Look into something more advanced if you need accurate information.

7. Don't you think "Allergic to soy or peanuts?" link is way too low on the page? If this is one of your concerns, put it in a more prominent place, for lawyers sake if nothing else. Right now you're wide open to a lot of law suits.

Sorry, didn't want to be to harsh on you. Hope these observations help.

Default Thanks for the suggestions - They're great!

I have actually been working hard on a new model for the site http://www.newyouwellness.com/index3.asp
(please be kind, this is a work in progress, but is not posted live)

The sunset actually was a sunrise, new day, new you - wellness (get it?). Anyway, I've replaced the image with flowers (that fit on screen) suggesting fresh, clean, and inviting. I am actually torn between that or a plain colored background and simple, mail, cart, and secure icons, thoughts?

The Last updated, i've read it actually something most sites lack, in that it says we are current not dusty and stale. But if you think it should go...

I've have also moved my link to "my cart" higher up in the page by itself.

You refer to links on the left, top and center, which links are you refering to? I've filled the site with links assuming anyone can go anywhere from anywhere. Suggestions

I've also got an idea from your suggestion regading the allergies. I actually have a button on the left not as high as I think you'd like but I will place that allergy button right next to the product (where relevent) making it obviously and "legal".

I am also torn, between button links and text links built into a table giving the appearance of buttons. Suggestions?

Thanks very much,

Jim

Site's that have a "Last Updated" reference generally have a higher return rate. People don't expect daily updates, unless you're a news site. It doesn't matter how often the site is updated, people don't pay close attention to the date. The fact that an update time/date is shown is more of a psychological trigger. You could say the site was Last Updated on: 12-20-2008 and people aren't likely to notice the error. They just want to know you are real, that your company is real, and that they can trust you.

Stating that you're a pop-up free site, while viable isn't professional. Professional sites are pop-up free, that's part of what makes them professional. There's two camps on this one. One camp says tell people you are a popup free site, and the other says don't tell them, show them. I think it's a matter of personal preference. I follow the "Actions speak louder than words" thought process. :)

Hit counters do make a site look unprofessional. Depending on who hosts your site, they should have that data available for you. It helps to know more than just how many people have visited your site.

Build your credibility, know your customers, and be human. Success is a lot of work, but I think you're well on your way. :)

Default Prevent Resizing Text

Typically, users can view text in a smaller or larger font than originally designed on the page. One way around this is using images instead of text. Although, I've seen sites that somehow have defeated this. Is there a way (and how) to prevent the browser from resizing certain (or all) text when the user clicks on view then larger or smaller text size.

Thanks to all.

If you all want to see what I've done so far with the sugestions provided check out my beta site here.
