I guess this would be the first step in getting a good web site up and running.
I get 30-40 hits per day but very few orders?
I have built my site by the DIY method using Fusion 4.0 (7.0 on order)
www.wood-gifts.net
thanks in advance

your logo is not clear at all... you should work on it... and a lot of your photos are not clear...
you are doing your site in frames... and search engines spiders/robots cannot read frames..
your site and most of the work showcased does not look professional... perhaps that is why people are not buying...
I think you should redo your site without frames.. use a nicer background.. without the frames border, the site is bland... and clean up your photos... and perhaps have several pages... some of the pages are taking too long to load.
With just a few adjustments, your site will look much better.

I wish I had a better digital camera (cheap Polaroid 640-1 megpiex or ?) not real good for pics.
I received new software yesterday Fusion 7.0.
Plan on rebuilding entire site from scratch.

Would concur with info 202 on the graphics issues woodgifts. Logo is truly bad, and the graphic image moving up and down the menu, although interesting to say the least, is a bit disconcerting. Sort of gives you an inclination to run before you get run over!

Couple of issues noticed with the page itself.... 1.) the blue tiled background in the left frame is not very professional looking. Would you buy a used car from a guy that had that for wallpaper all over his office? Probably not! I would suggest you find something more refined and dignified in appearance for a business site, and save Merlin on the blue satin for a personal site. 2.) Not sure why you're loading the menu on every page change, when you're running frames???? The single largest benefit to running frames is to save the burden of loading that frame every time the page changes, thus enhancing load speed drastically. By loading the menu every page change, you are defeating the primary purpose of using frames. Your hyperlinks there should be for the page in right frame only, and the should be tagged <target="main">.

As for the quality Camera, try E-bay or Half.com you can pick up some pretty sweet deals there. I have an Olympus 2.5 megapixel, takes beautiful pictures and even has a macro function to get up close and personal, that lists for $200 - $225. I've seen it on there, new in the box, and it repeatedly sells for $100, or less.

Not sure what to tell you about the load speed, except you're trying to carry too many images on some pages, thus causing a pretty substanital burden on page load. Other pages the images need to be optimized as the files are way large. And, some pages are just plain slow for some reason. It may be an issue with your server, but there are certainly some design faults there that can't be ruled out as suspect.

Having looked the site over, I would say quality of the site is very likely cause of your problems with sales, and if you're putting a cleaner more professional looking site together, your sales should pick up for you.

Best of luck!

I think you need to take a new look at your site from the visitor's perspective.
For one example (making stuff up), I'm a mommy looking for something nice to buy my little girl for xmas, say a jewelry box. Assuming you've done your meta tag work, I should be able to search for "wood jewelry box" and find your site. I wrestle through the menu (that is scary for little old mommy me who is just looking for a box). I get to the jewelry boxes page. There are some gorgeous boxes on there. But I can't enlarge the pictures to see the detail. And the detail I don't see is exactly what my 7-year old girl will instantly pick up on. There aren't any prices, or even a price span, or a work time range. I have no idea when I need to order or what it will cost me to get this in time for xmas. I work hard for my money and want the best deal, I can't wait for a quote when I have nothing to go on price-wise. I am suspicious of hackers getting my credit card number, and your site has that loose look that means someone may have access to it if I give it to you. And your site doesn't even say how I pay you, and I don't have time to wait for that either. My 7-year old will have a prima donna fit when she is presentless on xmas, so I move on to another site.
Just thoughts for you, very pretty boxes in there. Don't take that make-up scenario personally.
