Semantically I do not like the way the content extends past the header on the right hand side. But overall not a bad looking site. I like the header on the front page.

PS: This is a test page; the changes will be reflected on the other pages once I am happy with the new look.

There is a problem with the menu that it moves over to the right in Netscape, Firefox and Opera.

Why is the header above the text? Can't you integrate a script that keeps the header fixed while you scroll so that one can at least read what's under it?

Further I agree with Webgoddess68 that content shouldn't extend the header at the right.

Your page has a classic style and on itself that's not bad at all, but if you really want to make it compete with certain sites made in Flash, I think you should do something about it that makes it really great, although I can't give you advice. Neither can I tell you if that kind of high tech looking sites would be appropriate for promoting animal care.

It loads quickly, that's another good point.

(if you want to comment my site, please say something else than that it loads too slowly, I'm working on that, also on an English version)

It's an interesting site. From a design perspective, I wouldn't have images behind text. Then you can save the text as a gif and the images as jpgs, this will give them a better resolution. I agree the text should be in line with the edge of the header too, and perhaps move the left margin to be in line with the header's left hand side. In my experience it is the attention to detail that makes a design look professional.

I really like the design of your baptist church site - maybe try and incorporate some of those ideas into this site too.

I'm afraid I'm not much of an seo so hope this helps a bit with design!

Thank you for your comments so far!
Please tell me if this is what you see?
Here is what I get when viewing the site at 800 X 600 in IE: www.empangenispca.co.za/images/newlook.jpg

@webgoddess68: Does it extend a lot or just a bit?

Default Yes.

Yes, it expands a lot - about 1/4.
I view it on a larger screen - 1600/1200 p.
It looks OK, but I do not think that the blue nuance is appropriate.
If I were you I would change this blue to frost-green and would add some dark pink "FF3333" or orange, or perhaps a coral nuance.
Also try putting the header in a table with fixed width - i.e. 850 pixels, and beneath it the main body in separate table with the same fixed width.
That's what I do anyway.

It extends to the edge of my screen and I'm using a resolution of 1024x768. Also viewing in FireFox. Here's screen shot of how it lays out for me.

Rosie is right. Use tables with set widths to keep it all in line. Your header image is 755px. Try setting your table width to that size and bring it all in line.
