I submitted my site for review quite a while ago, but have since taken it out of frames and removed the navigation buttons, replacing them with text links. I have tried hard for consistency throughout the site (exceptions being printable help pages and individual printable recipe pages). Of course, all feedback is welcome, but since I no longer have a navigation frame I kind of feel like maybe my home page should have columns. Maybe it is fine the way it is, but I sure would appreciate feedback from you folks. BTW -- since unframing my site the ranking on the search engines has gone up a lot. I find that most interesting, because I had a complete "no frames" version on the index page before, plus a no frames version that people could access on line. The result of all that extra work was that a lot of my individual pages had decent rankings but my index page almost couldn't be found at all. Now it is definitely "there". I have tried to make my site easy to surf because there are over 800 pages, and I want people to be able to get where they want to go easily. Please give me your comments and/or suggestions. Thanks -- as always.

Hi lady,
On first impressions I would suggest breaking up your text a little, maybe into side by side sections, etc. The page looks too filled with cramped text and I reckon it could do with a little more "happy colours" to reflect it's purpose. These are only my thoughts. Good luck and well done with the ranking. Dean |

I'm impressed. But I think a happier color on your first page would be more interesting. Your cards are really colorful. I'm a newbie to this and all I can say about your site is WOW. You really put a lot of work into it.
Would you please check out www.hexylogcabin.com thanks |

Thanks to both of you. I'm working on adding more color "even as we speak". May take a while, because I do things by trial and error.
Yes, I do put a lot of work into the site. Probably too much, but what the heck. If I can bring some smiles and happiness to people it's well worth it!

I don't know..........I did this version
http://www.happydaycards.com/indexWPW.html It's more colorful, has columns at least for part of the page, and I did take out some redundant text, but wound up with a larger file size to download, with all of the frames within frames. I'm not sure I'm heading in the right direction. I want to keep the colors matching my logo and don't want to overwhelm the logo/graphic at the top of the page. I did find a coding error while I was at it also, and I thought I had checked and doublechecked all my pages. Hmmmm.... Do you think it would work if I take out the "colorful" borders and just do it in columns with the teeny graphics? I want the page to look neat, as opposed to messy. Please do not tell me to use CSS because my brain can't handle it at all. I know how to do html, and can put things about anywhere I want them that way. Waiting for comments.

hi
by losing the frames you have probably done yourself a big favour in terms of workload reduction, thereby increasing your work to value output. Also you will position much easier and better in search engines especially the likes of Google who anylise via page content more now as opposed to the actual keyword meta tag. By using frames your page content would really not be seen by the search engine because it can't see the frame src page only that you are using a frame. Certainly seems to be the case from what I have seen. I dropped frames myself 7-8mnths ago now and moved to xhtml/css and my placements have taken a healthy jump and if I searched for Tsunami Aid in Google during january/early febuary (For pages from Ireland) I had top ranking against some of the biggest news sites in Ireland! I still am getting first page rankings against it. So yes a definate advantage from losing frames IMHO. As to your site...I'm not into Garish, flashy sites so I quite enjoyed the overal look to your site. I also like a site that get's straight to the point and doesn't take you on wild goose chases, again top marks for that. As for design? hmm maybe your background is a little bland and lay out a bit cramped as stated. Overall, nice, pleasant, clean and simple, which is as stated my prefered type of site. btw I should add the Tsunami positioning was due to a fund raising event we did offline but my site was used for advertising. I also carry links to the some of the different volunteer organizations. It also pops up the warning I made about the unscroupulas e-mail spammers using the disaster to spread a virus |

I reworked my home page from the comments of the two people who reviewed it, plus my hubby and two friends. So no one needs to click on the revised page I did for WPW, because it is now the regular home page.
Hopefully my homepage now looks "happier", to go with the cards on the rest of the site. I would still welcome comments from members about anything that needs to be improved on the site.
