Minimal is OK but this looks plain lazy in regard to design. I think it could use a bit more creativity in regard to presentation and navigation. The way it is now, it looks pretty "dated", like technology for the web is limited and that's all you could do for presentation. How about a Flash slideshow? Make it more dynamic.

Half way through the "Porfolio" I wanted out but I had no way to navigate home. On the "Contact" page, there's no way to get home either.

For a cutting edge makeup artist, this site doesn't cut it.

thanks for the review

you are so mean!!

im glad you said that as she loves the site and spends all day looking at flash sites and wont be persuaded into having a flash site

quoting " they take too long to load and dont work properly " Im guessing she is refering to the ones that have not been made properly!

Please don't take my critique as mean, just honest!

I've got a Flash slideshow running on a builder's portfolio site with eight high-resolution images and the overall file size is 44kb. That's still fast to load, even on a dial-up.

make sure the navigation links are on every page int he same position, and that they are all the same font and size.

Why not display the portfolio as thumbnail images, with better filenames, and save as progressive jpegs..

thanks

I think with the progressive jpeg it just increases file size and wont improve load speed that much and the text does need a tidy up in places agree on that

im wondering if i set out tables and cells and insert the photos as background it may speed up a little other than that the bird needs to have a flash driven photo element she is adamant on the size of the displayed picture

ps i have just changed the photo on the index to a progressive scan of x4 and will have a look and see if it loads up any faster

changed the % of image quality and reduced it from 100% to 90 percent made a significant difference

cheers fella

Like the make-up art it is showing !

But really miss the 'HOME' button !

It might cramp the style you wish to obtain but like suggested earlier you better put in some thumbnails. It could be that visitors would like to be able to choose what they see, before loading it...

In the way it is presented at the moment I am wondering how many pictures would there be ? Maybe you could put a little pointer somewhere like 'photo's 3 & 4 of 250 or so....

Default thanks for the review

point taken on the home button

as for the thumbnails I know that makes sense but the make up artist concerned only needs the website to be shown to make up agencies . when I have a few more comments in here I think I will show her and have a wee re design

thanks for your comments
