Hi

This site has been up and running since october last year and is due an overhaul. Any comments much appreciated, especially with regard to ease of use, and converting browsers / users into paying customers.

It's a neat and tidy site - almost too neat and tidy. A little boxed and restrained.

BUT what I found strange was reading in the text:
"pure beeswax candles"

Because until I reached here I had no idea - from the domain or the images what it was all about. In fact I had to plough through sunsets, tree, pine cones and wheel barrows to eventually find a candle...

Your page title "Home page" is a lost SE opportunity.

Many thanks for your comments Paul B, I guess the site's intention is rather vague at first to say the least!

I agree with the comments about its point at first glance I thought you were a florist

I totally disagree with the neat and tidy I think its totally correct to have a minimal site with regards to candles

you just need to get a lot more relavant photos

Job done

I agree with the other posts - the images of nature are pretty confusing in regard to imparting what it is you do. Every photo should be of candles and products you sell, get rid of all that stock photography of nature.

The images you do have of your candles are of a very poor quality. Create a decent resolution thumbnail and then provide visitors with the option of clicking to view larger. The enlarged image s/b a high resolution version for visitors to review. I'm sure your products are lovely, it's just that your photos don't show that. (Don't forget to add ALT tags to your images.)

I'm not crazy about your navigation in regard to viewing products. It changes on every page. Try a drop-down menu so a visitor can always choose the different categories of candles no matter what page they're on. Don't make them go back to "Products" and start all over again.

STYLE="{text-decoration: none;}" is on your page; define your styles in your stylesheet.

In regard to SEO, your keyword relevancy is fair so you need to work on all of your tags and text content to improve, especially the TITLE of your home page (currently called "Home Page").

Good luck with your online venture.

Default useful sites

http://www.sitereportcard.com

I ran your site through sitereportcard score really well

it could be just the lack of correct pictures something as small as that could put people off

Default changes made upon your advice

sorry I haven't been back until now.

I have started making changes to the site after all of your excellent input. I have changed the home page imagery to let users know what we do (...how stupid was that!)

Will be changing the title tag too (doh!)

Other changes to follow when I get chance. Many many thanks to everyone who contributed to this topic. I have had the site appraised by lay persons many times - I'm so glad I plucked up the courage to post here, as sensible advice is far preferably to people trying to 'say the right thing'.

Yes, that's right. I guess I need to work in the correct spelling also. Thanks for raising this issue.
