Hi everyone!
Thanks in advance for all the comments.
I would like to know what you think of the overall site, and to help me with the marketing.
It is a gay friendly site, so if you are homophobe, don't bother! and please, no comments...
Happy new year!

Katia

This could be a really fun, unique site but the current layout and design of the site isn't very interesting to me. I think you need to break up the layout with at least a left column (a good place for your navigation) that has some color behind it.

The description text on the home page is hard to read when it spans the entire screen. Keep that at a max width of 500 px (think newspaper columns). I also have a hard time reading all bold text, it comes across as yelling.

The navigation is hard to read since the font is so small and it's red on grey - use a different color combination that has more contrast. Be sure to place the style code for those links in your stylesheet to clean up your source code.

Thank you very much for the tips. I will work on this right away... I'm not sure about the comment that there are too many things? Can you be more specific? It's all related items, really. Maybe I need to make it look simpler. Thanks a million. katia

Default Changes help?

I added text to the home page to try and guide visitors better.
I also am working on making a side navigation instead of top and bottom. Does that really make a difference? It takes a lot of room on the side...

Also, should I add Google adword on the pages for marketing purposes, and any other comment are greatly appreciated.
have a nice day,

Good morning katiab,

I like the overall concept and layout of the site but there are a few minor things that you might want to look at:

- The pages take ages to load (even on my cable connection) so you might have some server speed issues. The page size is large (see below) but not enough to slow it down this much. Even downloading the 500byte background image file took 15-20 seconds

- The main page is pretty big. If you're only looking for customers with broadband then it doesn't matter but those on dial-up will take almost 40sec just to look at your first page. Very few will wait that long

- There are some technical HTML issues in the main page. Rather than me repeating everything, you can use the free analysis tool at http://www.doctor-html.com/ for more details.

- The consumer page is hard to read with the vertical rainbow stripes in the background. If you really have to keep this symbol, try muting the colour to provide more contrast with the black text. Another option to consider would be to turn the stripes 90 degrees and let the lines work for you instead of against you. This would give visitors the same background along a single line of text so it would be much easier for them to read.

- Using a gif for the background rather than a jpeg would give you a cleaner image with a smaller file size.

I would review more of the site but it's taking over a minute to download each new page.

cheers and beers,

cheddles

Default Slow download?

Slow download?

I'm quite surprised about that comment... There is no reason for the site to take a long time to download.
however, there are various places that you might be looking at.
maybe it would be helpful if you were more specific about where you clicked so i can repair that problem.
The static pages however should be fairly fast...
And I don't know what page you are talking about with the rainbow background.
Thanks for letting me know all this!
I'm on the lookout.

Default Sizes

The homepage downloads in 30 seconds now.
Other pages did have a download of 90 sec. so I changed the images. They now are 40 sec. each.
Thanks a lot for pointing it out.
The old images all need to be retouched and i was unaware of the problem.
I will do this for every page.
Any more comments to better the site?
How about some comments on marketing issues?

Take care!
