Hi all,
Would be very interested to know what you all think of www.skillclear.co.uk - recently made changes to the hsmp pages and canada pages, suddenly great on yahoo, then suddenly showed the OLD pages (even though they are not up there (301 redirects to new ones) - some very odd things happening in the search engines, some good, then bad, then good again.... any ideas or thoughts much appreciated!

Remeber that commas don't count (and Google doesn't read the keywords tag). So look at this run: Quote:

Hi John,
Thanks for your reply - if they ban smoking I'll be using our services as well! Very interested in your comments about keywords - does it apply equally for all the major search engines (not reading the commas)? On that basis I guess I should have a keyword string that does not duplicate words but includes them in an order that captures the major key-phrases that I am targetting - would that be on the right lines? Oh, and it wasn't just on Google that the old pages were showing - happened on Yahoo and, I think, MSN... Thanks for the assistance - much appreciated - off to have a cigarette now (while I can). Regards, Dean

Hi Dean!
Keywords are still worth having, as some major SE still use them. I mention it because it stresses how important the title tag is. You can duplicate keywords, but be careful on this, I may be wrong, but I think that some of the SE may stop reading uppon reaching the duplicate. I woud put 'skills' before 'skill' because the second is within the first and will therefore do the same job. if you must have 'skill', place it near the end, so the important ones are read before a SE cuts off. Don't use sentences in keywords, as you don't want to be indexed on irrelevant words such as 'I'. Neat idea though, as you've realised that some people may search on phrases. Not sure what's happening with SE right now. With buy-outs, betas and Google going backwards, it's a mess. Feel free to join my Club and ask for more. Cheers! John
