I'm fairly new to the world of Web design and I would appreciate any feedback for making my personal site better in any way. Thank you very much!

Nice site, fun game-like approach with the mouse-over pop up links.

Thank you, Clyde, for your feedback...How can I make the site more inviting? Is it interesting enough for people who like this sort of thing to go deeper?

Anybody, anybody...give me feedback, please! My husband says that it looks too small on the screen for him. I have put it on a 600 pixel width ... does anyone agree with my husband? What about the links being on the bottom? I'm trying to preserve the looks of the house theme without messing it up with links on the side or top on the subpages...please look at it and let me know. This is my "practice" site. I love to fiddle with it to learn more.

It's a nice, pleasant, and quite cute site Marcie.

However, the screen did look quite small for your webiste, the text under the graphics such as Home, Financial Concerns, etc, were quite fuzzy, and the buttons need to be enlargened.

I don't know what webhost you're using, but see if you can expand your site and give it a bit more bolder color.

Otherwise, nice concept!

The website it cute. I took a look at your recipes, and the way you organized them is a cute idea. When I looked, for example, at main dishes, I was unable to go directly to say, side dishes without using the back button on my browser. I recommend keeping all tabs up after a visitor has selected an option.

Default cute idea

the "virtual house" is terrific! I'm not sure why the text underneath is squeezed into one column. Looks like you used a tool like Front Page. If you can edit the HTML code, I'd change the
<td width="10" height="67"> before your "Welcome to Marci..." to
<td width="10" height="67" colspan="2">

That will spread the text out across the bottom of the page. There should be a way to make the text column spread across the page even in your tool.

The recipes are cute and ok for one or 2 recipes in each category, but the paging is not going to work if you add a whole lot of recipes. I'd lose the metaphor of the card a bit and put the whole recipe on one screen so it's easier to print out.

Love the house, tho. Really original.

Okay Marci,

I usually don't review personal sites, but since you are wanting to know what people think...

Your layout looks completely different on an IE browser compared with Mozilla such as Firefox. To share this with everyone, please visit:

http://www.drtandem.com/marci.htm

So, firstly, there is a compatibility issue. When I visit your kitchen, the recipe box is a cute idea, but very difficult to navigate. It's so difficult, it's almost a game. The movies in Quicktime would not open or I just didn't have the patience to wait. The Flash worked okay.

As I dig deeper into your site and links I find that you are not as naive as you pretend to be:

The favicon was the clue that made me dig, I was already suspicious when I saw the Flash animations. So, all in all I agree with your husband too small on both your "personal" site as well as your web design site.

The bad news is as a simple "mother and housewife" you have too much time on your hands. The good news for your husband, we can see what you are doing with it.

Good start. Keep working at it.

First of all, I want to thank everyone who has taken the time to give me feedback...I really appreciate it! I truly strive to learn as much as I can and do the best job I can do on my sites. I still have a lot to learn and the feedback helps me to make changes and learn more.

Thank you, Dr. Tandem for your screen shots of my site. I had no idea it was looking funky on IE. It's strange, I'm aware that things can look differently with different venues, so I do check...on both mac and pc and using different browsers...for some reason, it looks OK on my explorer. I wonder why???? Do you know? I'm going to delve into this problem.

Also, does anyone have a suggestion as to how much "larger" my site should look? I'm always debating between the 780 pxl widths and the 600 pxl widths. I'm a table designer, not css...what do you think?

Again, thank you for the great responses and I'll return the favor soon!

Default Bravo!

Bravo! I don't usually look too hard or comment on featured sites, but I was taken by yours. Very creative and a great simple look. I can tell you really enjoy your work "It shows". I gave it a quick look with both Netscape 7.2 & IE 6. and everything I looked at worked perfect. Well done. : )
