Default http://www.masterbags.com - please review

Hi,

I have been doing some work on one of our webpages, http://www.masterbags.com lately. I would really appreciate if you could review it for me. This page has a history of very poor SERP, and I can not really figure it out?

Hi webinv, and thanks for your comments!

Would the site not be good enough to rank a little better than 1,000 on a search for "bag manufacturer", as it do today? There must be a major error on my webpage?

The page is about 2 years old and has always held a PR of 4, which I conclude is only a sign of well structured internal linking!?

I will investigate regarding blogs and directories, should I make a subdomain for thoose, or just include in existing structure?

"Would the site not be good enough to rank a little better than 1,000 on a search for "bag manufacturer", as it do today? There must be a major error on my webpage?"

There are no MAJOR errors as you put it, but with millions of millions of web sites it is always about who can tweak their site the best.

The amount of time the site has been online has nothing to do with the PageRank. I've put a site online within the last 6 months and it has a PR of 5.

Google loves it if others link to you, but they need to be well respected sites as well. Search engine results should NOT always be your #1 concern. You can get more targeted links from proper referrals from other web sites. That is the key to success for a lot of web sites. Some people could care less about search engines.

I use blogger.com. It is free to use and very well put together. You can see an example of my blog at:

In regards to getting ranked in the top 1000 you might want to see who your competition is within those top 1000. How often do you use the phrase "bag manufacturer" on your web site? The more times you use the phrase properly... the more the search engine will think you are a good resource for that word.. Make sure to put it in your img ALT tags if necessary.

Greetings - I am Nick!

There were 25 unset image command tags within your index page code that you should set to improve your overall web page performance in serps.

Image Alternate Text:

The "alternate text" defined for the image with the "ALT=" tag in the < IMG > command. If the field appears blank, then no alternate text is present. This text would be displayed by browsers that can not display the image. Some browsers will also use this text for the "tool tips" display when the mouse hovers over the image. Including alternate text for each image is recommended also as a basic SEO technique.

Cheers!
Max

Hi webinv and M-B,

Thanks for your comments, again :)

Around my SERP there are no relevant competitive webpages for my keywords at all. Actually I would guees that after 150 there the relevance is gone. I do mention the key words frequently, without overdoing it I hope. Reaching +30 seams not like the most difficult thing to do,,, but,,,

M-B: ALT tags, I took my focus away from them long ago. Would you suggest they would move my sites SERP significantly away from +1,000 or would the fact that my page pass trough the validator make the significant difference?

webinv: I am currently working on inbound links and various anchor text frazes. Difficult to get any links from anything other than directories. Bloggers has come to my intention and I will definitly start working with that. Your blog is now bookmarked :) Would you suggest to create it in a subdomain, subfolder, or like you did?

Cheers Nick

Many sites do make it a subdomain. I'm not personally well studied on the importance of subdomains, but the more keywords you can use in your url...the more the search engine believes the site is better targeted for the specific topic.

Example:

freescripts.com

would be better in searchs for free scripts than

JCS DOT com (example company name)

So...

searchengines.freetools.com

WOULD BE BETTER THAN

freetools.com/1.html

We will still have to do some reading to find out for sure what the professional SEO Experts think.

P.S. Thanks for bookmarking my blog! =)

Hi Nick:

A quick check of Overture showed that there were only 960 searches for the keyword 'Bag Manufacturer' last month. This is not enough to build any traffic.

However, 'Backpack' returned 99,538 searches. I would suggest you use that as a start and list keywords and phrases based on this. For example: Kids Backpack, School Backpack, and so on.

'Handbag' returned 260,000 searches. This also would be a good place to start. Look for unique phrases and keywords that will draw your targeted client to your site. The more focused the better.

Also, PM me as I am looking for some opportunities also. We may be able to help each other.

Regards,

Will

Hi,

The reason why I am using the key combination I do is that most searches on internet in regards of bags are endconsumer related, i.e. a seach on backpacks generet som many results that an importer would ad a key word to his search to filter out all shopping seraches. However, it would not hurt I guess. I did it before, and might concider to do it again. Before that I will work harder with inbound links (I hope this is the reason why my ranking is so poor today?)and build kewordpages including the word manufacturer(s), trader, exporter, factory, etc,.

You mentioned that we might be able to do something together? We have been talking about starting up a Affiliate Marketing program, perhaps you want to be the first to try your luck? Let's continue discussion

In regard of my poor ranking, +1,000, with Google for the search terms "bag manufacturer" and "bag manufacturers china" I would appreciate any suggestions. It's relativly little competition and about 950 totally unrelated webpages between me and no. 1
