Default ElDoradoGuide.com needs reviews

We are about to add some areas to our site and want to get your input on the existing areas of the site. If this were your neighborhood portal, what would you like to see?

www.eldoradoguide.com

Seems to me that it offers complete coverage on daily life in El Dorado. Kind of a great news site for locals. It has everything about mostly everything. Weather and Calendar is a great idea, too!

What it does need is something for tourism. I was able to find directories on places to eat, a town directory, but what isn't there is a little something for visitors.

I suggest expanding the sight slightly and offer a page for something like "plan your trip to El Dorado." Also, I wasn't able to find a page about El Dorado itself. You are covering everything about it in the present, but what about a little town history? Also, what does El Dorado have to offer to visitors? You've got to show visitors around town.

On that weather page, I also have that satellite feed working on one of my sites, too. If you want, I can show you feeds that are zoomed and targeted closer to El Dorado (they are also missing the NOAA logo - I still suggest giving credit to them, though).

Good site, and I like how its kept up-to-date.

Thanks salomon741. I hadn't really considered the site being used for visitors. That is something I will need to look into.
Still looking for input...ttt

Default nice

Looks nice...

One thing that's missing, is a clear, prominent mention of where el dorado county is. It's on the web, so people from outside your area will be going there, and like me, they won't even know what state your in...

Also, why is Christopher Reeves displayed prominently on your news content, when yours is a local site, and not a newspaper? I think you should try to keep it to local news and information. Of course, you're probably getting a feed from the local newspaper or something like that, but you can probably customize it just to get the local section of the news.

Best of luck with this.

Most of our users set us as thier homepage, so we carry some national headlines that they may be interested in. They actually are read quite a bit, ( we had one on George Clooney that set a read record, lol) but you are right about the placement of it, it should've been lower on the page. BTW we are in Ca, and are working on salomon741's tip of a history/visitor area. I really appreciate your input.
