Hi folks, I'll appreciate any comments and suggestions for this new web service. Also, if you don't mind answering this:

- Do you feel it's a useful service?
- Would you use it yourself?
- What are your favorite search engines?
- What other search engines would you add to the service?

Thanks!

All I got was a blank screen with the navigation showing...and, of course, your logo...
After looking carefully at the logo, I realize it is supposed to be topography, but initially it looks like a strange animal.... I would define it a litte more...

oh! it wasnt' topography after all,... it really was an animal... with this angle, it's better to see...
But, your index page leaves a lot to be desired... I thought I was getting an incomplete page..
perhaps you should put your logo and the site name across the top of the page...and use more text
somehow, the page just looks empty...

Default Mr Sapo

Thanks for your inputs, Mary Ann, it is a very cute animal we have as a pet ain't it? It's a toad, which in spanish is "Sapo" and that is where our name come from. I am aware of the emptiness of the right panel, but once you start searching, it will be full of information. We already put a welcome message and instructions so it doesn't look so blank.

Did you use the search tool? How you like it?

Thanks!

As an internet researcher, I'm always on the lookout for new tools. Although Mr. Sapo is pretty cool, I still prefer the WebFerret model, in which I enter a search query and it does all the legwork for you, pulling up results from 10 search engines.

If you could incorporate that feature, that would be great!

I'm glad you've find MrSapo handy; Please note that MrSapo is not a Meta search engine, and in fact it has some of them in the console, so one can benefit from the results of different searching technologies; we call it a Multi-search console.

Thanks for bookmarking it! Hope you use it frequently.

I used the search tool and it is interesting in that I only had to type in my search keywords once and then click on all the search engines listed... makes it a bit easier...
I normally use Google....very very seldomly do I use Yahoo... and especially now, since my site went from #4 in yahoo to "nowhere".... I'll probably not use it again... I have the google tool bar, so it makes it easy to use them... in fact, I even use to to find other search engines...

Looks like a neat idea but it's not working with Netscape 7.1. The listings don't show up at all. You might want to check that out.

I saw a meta search for PPC. I'd like to see this format done for PPC ads/listings. It would be handy to see who's using what keywords.

Default Nice Tool

The front page just needs more. It can be a lot of white space if you at least have some color. (example: Gooogle)

Right now the blankness makes the mind go "oh this site isn't finished. next..."

Awesome tool.

I think ? you have a good site.

Some instructions on the front page on how to use the site would clear up the initial confusion that I had.

Are you a Yahoo affiliate by any chance?

I also liked the fact, unbeknown to some that google does use cookies for searches (that I had different search results for our main keywords)because you have a different IP address. Results will change!!!

A different approach but a pleasant site and like the others above I would say well worth coming back to.

I have to agree with the others - very useful site! I also got the impression that it wasn't quite finished. For some reason the usefulness doesn't stand out right away.

I understand that it gets filled up with the search results, but you really want to be able to hook people in right away.

But I did test the search and am quite impressed - very handy!

Thanks to everyone who has reviewed MrSapo, all the feedbacks are a tremendous value for us, it's our first focus group!

It seems like the service is being appreciated, but the most common concern is the start screen... I agree with that and we are working to come up with a friendlier page ASAP, because the word about the site is spreading very fast.

We are also working hard in the browser compatibility issues.

We'll keep making adjustments and upgrades in the next days.

Nice clean design. I'm a little suprised that these sites are allowing you to present them in a frameset.

I was under the impression that this is strictly forbidden by most sites.

I am glad you liked the new frontpage! We also enlarged the search box, created a professional logo, and enabled a feature to browse directly from the box, typing the URL on it.

Mtheory: regarding this, we have reviewed the source's policies, and in fact, some of them forbid the use of frames or layout modifications. Since it's not our purpose to abuse any copyright, we have asked those who publish such terms if they want to continue in MrSapo. Anyways, from my point of view, MrSapo is making a step forward and those engines inside the console are highly benefited from being there.Thank you (Mtheory) for making us aware of this situation, it is being addressed!

Framed content, as well as other navigation systems, is used by hundreds of thousands of websites. So I think that those who are not willing to be on any frame, just install a simple freely distributed javascript that breaks any frameset, because it is just impossible to know who is framing your content.

We are receiving a very good feedback for the service, thanks to all of you who are already using it!

As everyone else has said, the new content looks great!

One thing I found confusing: when you recommend a friend it will send a "refer a friend email" and then display a Thanks for Recommending Me. You might want to add a link on that page that will take them back to the home page, since some users might get lost or confused.

Your whole concept is interesting. I would expect to see some copycats start popping up.

Have you thought about incorporating an affiliate ID into the Amazon search. Why not make a few extra dollars?

In reference to my post above.

Seems you are creating a popup upon entry to your site. My Google toolbar popup blocker keeps blocking it.

I've seen this happen with a couple other sites and considering the popularity og the Google toolbar and the use of other popup blockers(not tested) this surely seems to be site suicide.

I cant open it either, possibly because it is a popup, though have tried to paste it in a new window still does something then nothing at all. I want to see!

Default Pop-up

You are right, on the past weeks we were working with a pop-up javascript to customize the results window, but definitively it was a bad idea since it it was blocked by most of pop-up blockers (though it wasn't advertising). So, finally we came up with a standard framed page which is supported by almost any browser and is not blocked by toolbars. How you like it?

Hi everyone!, a couple months ago I submitted the recently created MrSapo.com for review. Now we have many visitors, thanks in part to your valuable comments which made us fix former bugs.

Now the site has a new look and has grow up to more than 80 information sources and search engines. It would be great if we have your valuable feedback again.

Thanks!

Love it, love it, love it! It's bookedmarked and I'll use it a lot. This is awesome getting all the engines in one site.

Have you thought about making the sentence: "Here you can query the most prominent search engines on the Internet, from one single site." stand out a little more to help grab attention.

Superb job!

Default I have to say - well done.

I absolutely love it. I have a few questions/comments though. To start with, are you making any money from this? if so how? Just interested it all.

Secondly, (and i really dont know how you could do this or even if it is possiable). But when i search within the frame displaying the search results, it would be nice if your search box was updated with the query so i can quickly reference another search engine with it.

Erm, i dont think im explaining this too wellbut hopefully you understand what im saying.

Default Thanks for the new reviews!

I am so happy to hear your kind words! I'm glad you both loved the site and your feedback have been very valuable!

bcollier: your suggestion has been very useful!

icb01co2: I'm afraid we can't control or pull the information displayed in the results frame because the browsers wouldn't let us do it for security reasons (and we agree with that). Thanks anyway.

Any other thoughs?

Hi,
Erm i wasnt suggesting scraping the information from in the iframe. But is it possiable to determine where the i frame is pointint to when navigating inside it? I dont know if this is the case, but if so you could aquiore the information from the URL i.e. with Google:

http://www.google.co.uk/search?sourc...04-20,RNWG:en&q=Search+Term

Im sorry if my suggestions are stupid, i dont kinow enough about it. I just think if it were at all possiable it would be a good feature to track the search criteria entered within the iframe.
