Site url http://www.wildwoodfilmfest.com/
Neighbor and friend built this site. It is his first. I am going to meet with him on improvement ideas. I have some ideas but would like yours also. I value the input and quality of information the volunteer members give here and thank you in advance for your suggestions. Note: This is a non-profit organization. They do have some funds but need to spend wisely. The film festival is the main reason this site exists. This site is mostly completed. At this time it has no incoming links and that is going to be one of my suggestions. The audience or target market is people that make small budget/no budget movies in the local market.

The site looks very nice and professional with a clean and consistent navigational system.
One idea I would consider is to reduce the visual impact and space consumption of your logo banner. The banner is too visually striking and draws my eye up away from the vital information you are presenting. The center panel in the banner perhaps could be lightened to reduce its visual weight on the page. If you want to go with a large, interesting banner, you might consider combining your navigation with the banner such that the different banner cells are your navigational links: Home, Submissions, etc. This would allow you to remove the right navigational system and devote that space to information or images. Many web users expect the navigation to be in the upper\left of the page starting with a link to "Home" upper\leftmost. It might help people quickly navigate your site to link the upper left logon on your logo banner to your Homepage. I would consider removing one or theother navigation system. You have a vertically ordered nav on the right and a horizontally ordered nav on the bottom\footer section. But the site is definitely very nice looking. Best of Luck! |

I was very impressed with the site. I think that the design is fitting for the purpose of the site. The graphics, colors and layout are excellent. A bonus is that the pages load quickly (sometimes more artistic sites get carried away with the graphics).
I had no problem reading anything and I found the navigation to be very straight forward. I don't really mind the extra navigation links, nor did I mind the right-hand nav bar (though I agree that for whatever reason, left is the norm). I assume that more content will be added to the site. I think that more text would help fill out the pages thereby balancing the banner with the main text area. More specific information and details (on the About Us page for example) would be a welcome addition. Random correction: The last sentance on the Business Profile (About Us) page needs a period at the end. Same on the Submission page. Great job overall. |
