Default some advice please

Hello all

Please can you look at my small hobbie/business site and tell me what you think I should do to improve it.
Any advice on making it download faster without losing too much image quality would help me greatly.

thanks in advance

you should have more text explaining what your site is about.
I keyed in "vintage watches" in Google and this site was the second on their listings... It is well done and gives some information about vintage watches..
http://www.antiquevintagewatches.com/
I'm not saying you should copy his text, but it gives you an idea how you should have your index page..
Actually, your page loaded quickly for me... I am on DSL... however, your larger view page was slow to load... I think you have too many photos on each page... you only need 1 or 2 for each watch and they should be on a page separate from any other watch.

your site should be consistent looking ... as in, every page should look the same... which is not the case with your site...
you should also have a link back to your index page... it is not professional to have your viewer use the "back" key... their should be consistent navigation structure on every page...and you should provide a link from the detail page to the previously viewed page.

your header is very bland...you might consider using the header from your "terms/conditions" page throughout the site... the only problem I see with that header is that your site name is almost impossible to read... you might want to fadeout the header and use a black font for the title.

I could not find any physical information, such as address, phone number, etc.... this information is essential to establish credibility, especially when you are asking people to send their money to you.

I hope this helps.. and good luck with your enterprise.

Thank you Mary Ann for your help and advice.

I’ve been pondering over the points you’ve made about my website which is why I haven’t replied sooner.
I take it on board about the need to have more text explaining what we are about and how buying second-hand watches involves more care than buying new watches with guarantees and I will rectify this.
I’m pleased that the pages loaded quickly with DSL. I know that 56K users have more of a wait.
You said that the site needs to be more consistent looking. I felt that my use of a basic grey and the same uses of text did this. So I can’t really see how if you looked at my pages individually you would not come to the conclusion that they are related. I must assume that you mean I should have only one heading instead of two.
I do have a link back to my Index page in the shape of the words Time Designz at the top of each page, maybe I should make this clearer as it was missed by you and probably the majority of visitors.
You say my Index header is very "Bland"; this came as a shock to me as most people who have seen it seem to like it. I will have to look at the text type in the header as you advised; I do agree that the "Z" does look like a reversed "S".
I do have my phone number on the Terms and Conditions page. It seems that you have missed this.
I do not wish to put my personal address on my site because I run this business from my house and from most websites I have seen run from home; most people don’t do this for fear of being robbed.
When selling second-hand watches the buyer needs as many photos as possible as to establish exactly the condition of the watch. I have had people ask me to e-mail more photos than I put up.
I think you do need more than the two you advise.

I hope this reply does not seem ungrateful and all the points have been noted and will be used in making this a better site for all potential customers. I may not agree with everything you said, but I value you saying it.

Thanks again David.
