Default www.search4freelanceworkers.com

http://www.search4freelanceworkers.com

I have also posted this item into the Domain Appraisel section. think I will get more reviews and feedback in this section.

Hi,
the site is up and running but I would like comments as to the layout and feel, also the keywords.
On the 'css' I have tried to use the name of the style to help in getting higher rankings by calling them .freelancer or .freelancers for example. Do you think this will damage my submissions or improve them?
I have only just started to promote the site with SE's and this is taking a large part of my time - at the same time I need to be making contact with Freelancers who are willing to sign up to the site for free.
Any comments on advertising on BB'S would also be very helpful.

I look forward to all constructive comments - "if you don't ask the question you may never find the answer!"

Default 404 :(

Maintenance...mmnn, just found a couple of errors showing when logging in, thought I had all these things sorted last week.
I've tried logging in here and clearing the cache and upto the last couple of faults it seems to work OK.
Thanks for taking the timeout to view it.

Hi Kroggy,

Actually the service that you are marketing is a good one and I will look deeper at it myself when I have time.

Since you are asking I am going to be honest. This is obviously "constructive" criticism and can be taken or rejected ... whatever.

1. To Simple. I find that to often website designers will publish a website that doesn't reflect what the searching public would consider an attractive site, and then ask the public to put their trust in them that they will come up with a site that they like. My first impression of the sites homepage was "plain, template-like, ..." As I clicked through a few pages it didn't change. Other designers go overboard and publish a hugely technical and complex "flash" site. I would prefer to land somewhere in the middle.

My search engine optimization page is good example of what I am saying. I had to get the site up b/c we changed our marketing strategies. Even though I advertise SEO, my SEO page isn't completed yet (waiting on one of my copy writers to complete it while he works on client jobs too).

2. As I have said in other posts. Jazz it up, Knock me out with your message.

3. Title says "Freelancers Workers". This is probably a typo.

4. Look at other freelance broker sites and compare yourself to them.

I hope this helps. Again, this is just my opinion, and I am in no way stepping on your toes. I'm sure you are proud of your work, as you should be.

Blessings in your business,
Keith Barnett

Default Freelance Workers

The first thing I would say to you is tell the browsers what they are looking for; eg Doc Type
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">

This helps both you and the person browsing as to exactly how they see the page that you have produced. Funnily enough, IE, Opera, Mozilla and Firefox follow the rules or standards.

The next point is link all of your CSS as you are using up space within your page. Why have you got a style sheet linked and at the same time have style within your pages?

The sites design to me is nice and clean and simple, although you might look at getting some more serious colours, ie a darker blue.

I as a person in business was not impressed by the way you have worded things. You need to revise your script so that it less gimmicky! What I am saying is that it is OK as it is but it does not have that ring of authenticity about it.

As to SEO look at your keywords and description. Do they relate to how your customers would be looking to find you?

As for advertising, conduct your own search for your product and find out if there are any free directories that you can submit to.

Alternatively try google or Overture PPC

Just MOO, hope it helps

Default Thankyou...

This is the sort of critism that I am really looking for, constructive and precise.
Many thanks Keith and Keimos,

Default the look and feel of...

Kroggy...

Yes, definitely add a DOCTYPE. One good point,
the site looks the same in IE and Mozilla.

Simple and plain...yes, which is ok, I have an LCD
screen and the blue is very light especially the
blue text links. I'd suggest making them a little
darker.

I would also add some mouseover effect to the top
menu bar. Not to show off but because most viewers
expect it in a website.. and it's user friendly.

The menu on the left could be a little narrower...
a lot of gray space.

I've looked at a few sites like yours (freelancing
project posting sites) and THE one thing you should
(must) do is sell me (the freelancer or project manager)
on why your site is the place to go. Is it the
quality/quantity of freelancers or projects? The
fee structure? Whatever it is... tell me. I think
you cost effectiveness you talk about is generally
accepted.. but it does not differentiate your site
from the other freelancing sites.

Oh yeah, speaking of fees... I couldn't find
anything specifying your fees. I think that would be
one of the things people would eant to know BEFORE signing up.

Default Cheers Roland...

Thanks Roland,
I agree with all the comments you have made, I am now looking to redesign the site to make it 'slick' looking and ad the information on costings etc..

Please ask someone to proofread your content! Here's what I picked up straight away.

On your home page you have "fee's" instead of "fees" several times i.e. you've used possessive when you meant to use plural.

One or two paragraphs on your home page need a paragraph break inserted.

In the last paragraph on the home page "a Escrow account" should be "an Escrow account".

The same paragraph refers to a banner link below. I can't see one, presumably because I've got ad-blocking turned on. Many others will too. I suggest you rewrite the last paragraph to include a text link to the same information.

Small things, but they can really damage your credibility by making your site and therefore your business look sloppy and careless.

Yeah, that immediately struck me -- poor presentation is death to a website but especially where the business is only online. It's hard to believe that such an error could have been made in the first place... sorry for being straight with you, but that's a pretty basic orthographical error.

Cheers,
Matt

Default Proof copy...

Thanks MathewDean and James Bull,
the trouble is I'm really not that good at the content side ("louzzy (LOL) education I guess:( ")and it looks like I'll need to have a copy writer to create the work for me, including adding the keywords into the main index page.

Thanks for taking the time and effort to view the site and for your comments.
