I have been continuously updating my site www.monarch-garments.com. I am able to get the good rank of the site in google in last 4 months but not able to convert the traffic into customers.Average pageviews per month is coming between 1000 to 1500.How to get targetted traffic for my site?

Hi Anurag.

There may be more going on than a lack of incoming links. Looking at the code (meta tags, image alt text, title tag and html) for your index.asp page, I see a lot of keyword stuffing. For example, the alt tag for the blue Jodhpur Suit contains 76 words and 600 characters, and is the exact same text as your meta "keywords" tag. This is considered spam by Google and can cause your site to be penalized.

You are also using white text in your navigation, on a page with a white body background. Even though the table cells have a dark background, some believe that Google may still think you are using hidden links.

Your title should be more like a caption or lead in sentence, for example: "Custom Made Jodhpur Style Clothing For Men From Monarch Garments."

If you include the description meta tag, you should use a paragraph, for example: "Featuring the now famous styles of jackets and pants that were invented by the tailors of His Highness of Jodhpur. Monarch Garments has been serving Marwar India for the past 10 years with custom made Nehru Jackets and Jodhpur Suits and Pants."

There are varying thoughts on number of repeating keywords, but it is known that keywords have diminished significantly in most search engines.

You alt text tag should just describe the picture, for example: "Custom Tailored Jodhpuri Wedding Suit In Light Blue Linen."

By the way, if you mentioned the fabric used to make the garments, I didn't see it. I did see that the jackets are lined with polyester, though.

Your site is indexed in Google. Once you clean up the code, you should start seeing a change in your rankings with Google.

To answer your question of nickc, incoming links from sites and directories/categories that are clothing/shopping/tailored/menswear specific should bring some pre-qualified traffic to your site.

Additionally, each link will be viewed by the search engines as a "vote" for your site, which will give your site a slight relevancy boost, helping your site move up in the search results. The closer you are to the top 10 results for a relevant search term, the more targeted traffic you will see.

This is a very basic description, but this post is already very long.

I have limit the keywords used in alt tag for the blue jodhpuri suit as per your suggestion but not putting the title,description and alt tag suggested by you due to the fear that this will drop my ranking
as keyword density will drop.I have noted all your points.I will use them one by one.You are simply great.You have given wonderful points but fear is stopping us.

I recommend you test it. Create a new page, all about your wedding jodhpuri suits. (Your current link is only to example images of the various suits available, anyway.)

Give the new page a focused title like: "Custom Tailored Wedding Jodhpuri Suits With Embroidery From Monarch Garments."

Use a description that might help a searcher pick your link out of a page full of listings. For example: "Honor your traditions. Choose from a vast array of embroidered styles for your custom tailored Jodhpuri wedding suit. Get married in a traditional suit with a look, feel and custom fit suitable for royalty."

Limit your keywords tag to just: "Jodhpuri Wedding Suit, Embroidered Jodhpur Suits"

Then write new content that centers around how the jodhpuri suit fits into a traditional Indian wedding. Include some information about wedding traditions. If there are any stories or traditions about the various embroidery styles, include them. Does the color of the cloth used have a special meaning? Then include what the colors mean. And so on.

What does an Indian man want to have his bride thinking when she sees him in his wedding attire? Include a statement to reinforce that thought, like "Your bride will glow with pride at your regal stature..."

Try to have at least 250 words, and use your keyword phrase, and variations of the phrase, in a natural manner.

Add a link to this page in the top navigation, and link to the wedding suit pictures from this page.

This way, you won't feel like you are risking your current ranking for the existing pages, but you can test the changes. You will want to watch for your new page getting indexed in Google. And you will need to have access to your site statistics, otherwise you won't know how successful the new page really is.

I believe you will find your new page out-performing the rest of your pages within two to three months, if not sooner. The idea is to rank well, get more click-throughs, and get more orders for your suits.

As for the background color and links issue, I recommend you look into using Cascading Style Sheets to control the text attributes. Here is a link to a site with a lot of information on CSS:

Start simple and use an external file.

The more pages you have on the site, the more time you will save when you can make your changes to the external style sheet, and all your pages are updated at once.
