Default Site Reviewed

I liked your site. It was easy to navigate and the content was good. I also noticed you used the ALT feature on all pictures, good job.

Hi harbrook, Welcome to WebProWorld!

The best way to delete an entire topic is to ask a Moderator to do it for you. ;)

Did you want to delete this topic? Or do you want to go ahead a have your site reviewed?

I'll be happy to help you either way - just let me know.

Sorry to take so long getting back here to review your site, CRSDesign.

I had to laugh when I first saw the site. I thought it said "Bakery"! I couldn't figure out what the point was with all the dogs. Duh!!

Don't worry about getting the hang of all this forum stuff. You've already caught on about quite a bit. I'm sure you'll catch on even more as time goes by. ;)

I've gotta know - did you write the copy or the client? It's really cute and clever!

I like that you put a border around the product images. It really makes 'em stand out nicely. I think the paragraph is a bit long on that page, though. I'd break it up into at least two. Or maybe use bullet-points for each ingredient. It'd be a lot easier to read.

On the "About Us" page, you've got some paragraphs that need to be broken up visually near the bottom of the page in "Return Policy" and "Shipping Rates". Looks like there's just a
instead of a

at the end of a couple of the lines.

Also, on your red links, I'd at least underline them so they really do look like links. Right now, they look more like text you've highlighted in red so it stands out better, but not really like a link at all. I almost missed it until I ran my mouse over one.

Also, on the headers you've got underlined, I'd be a bit more consistent in the application of the underlining. It looks longer in some places than others, which makes it look more like a typo of some kind, rather than intentional.

One final thing that's probably pretty darned important. On the bottom of the index page, the link to your own site doesn't work. Try adding the "http://" in front of the "www". ;)

Otherwise, I think you've got a really nice-looking and fun website there. Nice job!

HTH!

I love the dog bones for navigation. How cute! I'm with SyrenSong, I too had to look at Barkery for a minute before I got it. Too cute.

Default Wow AGAIN!

Thanks so much for the reviews. I am impressed at the attention to detail. I will consult with the client and let her know thereare a few minor adjustments I would like to make according to your suggestions.

I forgot to mark the topic to be watched and didn't even realize the new reviews were her, I just thought I'd take a look and see... whaddaya know!

SyrenSong, no I didn't write the copy, just cleaned it up a little for the client. The design idea is totally mine, though; she came at me wanting a whole different look. When she told me what her packaging would look like I burst into creative action!

You mentioned I need to add the WWW to the beginning of my URL at the bottom of the index page... but it is there, try it again, would you?

Thanks again, and thanks to Leisa too!

Must've been a truly weird glitch on my computer. When I clicked it the first time, it didn't work. It looked like the "http" part was missing, but it working fine now.

Hmmm. May be more trouble with my new firewall... Yuck!

There is one more thing I should mention - and it's very important.

You've got your background color for the pages set to black. That might cause some problems if a site's visitors have their graphics turned off. There are a few words in red that are visible, but that's all. The rest of your text perfectly matches and blends with the background color.

I would suggest setting the background color to white, and consider setting background colors for your table columns as well if you want to use the red as a backdrop.

Using black text and a black background could also cause problems with search engines. They could perceive the site as trying to spam them and the site could be banned. Truly bad news for your client!

Otherwise, best of luck to you and your client. ;)

Default Black Background and Text

Great critiquing, friends, thank you! I had no idea that the black on black might cause a fuss in the search engines. At this point I can proudly say that within 3 weeks of launch I have the site in Position number #1 on Google with the phrase Doggy Desserts. That seems pretty OK to me!
Anyway, I'll suggest these changes to the client for the right reasons and I'm sure she will agree to have me do whatever it takes to get her site as close to perfect as I can.
Hoping you have a great Sunday, everyone! I'm off to watch football for the day!

Default Doggy Bakery

I agree, nice job!

My only comment is the red text was a little confusing until I saw they were links. Suggest you underline them to avaoid confusion. Maybe have them change color on mouseover.

Hi, this is a nice site with quirky content. Nice and clear, and very easy to navigate.

Hi there,

I have just one thing to add to the comments that are already posted.

When I opened your site my browser was fairly small on my screen and it split the logo image in half (to see this just drag the right edge of your browser in to narrow the window). I checked your code and all that you should have to do is add another row at the top of your table and insert the two graphic files into that row. This will keep them from moving when the browser is resized. I hope this helps!

You have done a really nice site; well organized and very clean. I wish you and your client the best!

If you are going to use links that are not underlined, try to make them bright blue, the same color as a normal hyperlink. I know this can mess with your color scheme some, but at least it is the color people expect a link to be. They should absolutly have a rollover effect like a link.

Only other comments are that the red against white is very harsh. Also I like the dog images, but would really like to see a picture of her products even more! Please fix the issue with that branduin is talking about!
