your site is attractive... fairly quick to load - the home page and the subsequent pages... I am on DSL, so dial-up viewers might have to wait a bit to get to each page.

I have a few comments to make:

1. Remove the borders from your thumbnails... your pages would look a bit cleaner without the borders.

2. check your use of certain words... as in, "weather" should be "whether" - weather relates to the climate.

3. your potential customers have too many steps to get to see the enlarged view of the product... rather than the enlarged view open in a new window (again), you should have the larger view on the description page. Make it as easy as possible for your visitors to make a purchase.

4. I would probably not buy from you... although you have a phone number listed, I did not see any other physical information - such as, address, etc. Listing your physical address lends credility to your site/venture. Phone numbers are easily disconnected and your customer will have nowhere to go if they encounter problems... if you are a legitimate business, you should have no problems giving as much information as possible to your customers.

Hope this helps... good luck!

I agree the phone number was a good sign on the top right. But if I am going to buy diamonds then I would like a little bit more assurance. You can find your address in a couple spots like the 'about us' etc., but you do have to look for it.

Site looked good, but I did think it might be a bit too bulky, looks like the home page is 150K--might be worth it though.

When I click the images that link to you categories on the home page I don't see the rings that I clicked on in the first page.

During the checkout I would like to be reassured that my product will get to me, it would be the quality that I desired, and it will be for a good price. Maybe something that says "rest assured we offer a 30 day money back guarrantee if you are not satisfied," displayed throughout the checkout, maybe before.

I think what she meant with borders was <img border="0" so that your hrefs don't have the blue border, I agree on that point.
But, I would get rid of all the borders on pages where you have groups of items. Have a look at some direct mail catalogs, they are a great source of inspiration as far as page layout ad effective use of white space.
I'd say you're about half way there with this site, which is alot better then most of the sites out there.
You got a high end produt so your site has to look equally high end.
That is just my opinion

Hello guys,

thank you for your comments. Every even little point counts.

The address is on 'about us' and 'contact us' pages, but I guess, I'll have to make it more visible somehow.

Got rid of the borders. Do you really think it looks better this way? To me the discription right now looks a bit confusing (as to which picture it is for).

Please let me know your thoughts. Will do other corrections as well.

Nice looking site; I didn't see with borders, but I'd say definitely better without.

One thing I'd really consider is changing the color scheme of your top banner. For a site selling diamonds I want to see something soothing, and rich, like muted golds, blues or greens (green for money), but reds and orange yell "look out" and "danger," IMO. Take a look at your competitors - most carry the color throughout in different shades, some with accents in gold.

Reds and oranges are good for sites selling food because they increase the appetite. That's why you see them used a lot in fast food restaurants. ;-)

Thanks again for your comments.

Changing the color scheme would be a lot of work.

Does anybody else having the problem with colors or think changing the colors to bluish and grey would make the site more trustworthy?

stereokiller could you be more specific?
What browser are you using to view the site? And what pages do you think need to be aligned?

Guys, please post more comments.

Also please let me know if you think if the site would be in blue color it would give your more confidence to buy.

Thanks,
Denis

Default Looks Great!

The site looks great I wouldnt change a thing. Nicely designed and navigates fairly easily.

How are your sales on the web? Have you had any? If so how many and what do you average?

If your site is making sales then you have accomplished your goals.

More of the same, but at least chiming in so you know others agree:

1. Drop the border on the picture links
2. Add physical street address to top or bottom bar somehow/somewhere
3. If you are a street business moving to the web, then make a statement like "In business since 1979" or something to that effect (if it is true, obviously)
4. Put the big picture on the product page
I could not get the page to open. . . .looks like bad code:

javascript:

Not sure why the comments are where they are. . . this didn't work in Explorer 6.0 or Firefox 0.9.2

Keep on tweaking!

An article I read recently it DM News happened to mention an online jeweler, http://www.goldspeed.com so I made a quick check and they use blue/gold for their color scheme. Then I did a search for "jewelry" and all the top listings used some variation of blue, as did those for the keyword "diamonds." It's at least worth considering.

Hello guys, thanks for your comments.

Chris: We are doing OK, the site is fairily new but we have many unique & quality jewelery that you won't be able to find anywhere else. Also our prices are one of the most competetive out there (we are the actual manufacturers, not resellers).

alliew: You are the first one who is experiencing the problem viewing large images. For some reason your browser reformated the page and cut and commented out the javascript code.

Does anybody else having problems viewing large images?

Regards,
Denis
