Default Good clean look

Hi Felicity,

You have a good strong clean initial look to your site, but there are a few glitches and the code needs a bit of a clean up.

Things like the repeated use of " " to achieve layout, show your inexperience. It may sound harsh, but if you want to do this as an income, you sound learn more of the code as this is easy to avoid. Check out w3schools web site http://www.w3schools.com/

Something you should consider is that while you main page is obviously set to fit and 800px screen width, it actually cuts of the last few digits of the phone number on your header graphic at that screen size. When designing a header on a page with a fair amount of text that will likely nee vertical scroling on 800 x 600 screen, try keep your design space to about 785 px wide to allow for the vertical scroll bars.

Also maybe look at your navigation and order things together that belong together. Services & Hosting should not be separated by Free Quote. Similarly it seems odd that Pay Online is in the middle of Company & Contact Us.

Your styles look clean, but I noticed you have used the same font & colour for links as you have used as a highlight and heading on other areas. This can be confusing for visitors. Sure the underline and the orange hover help, but it would perhaps be wise to try make more significant styles for different things.

Good Luck
Tania

Hi felicity1127,

The site is nice clean and very professional looking.

But the mouse over effects are not working on the nav bar.

Also if your going to use the blue for your links you need to use a different color when your not using links in your text.

You had emailed me last week and I tried serveral times to email you back and even went to your site and emailed you.

I was getting the email returned when I tried to email you I'm not sure what the problem was or if you got my email but wanted you to know that I did try and email you.

Default Website review

Hi Janeth Thank you for reviewing the site. www.felicitywebdesign.com I don't know why I am not getting the email from you. Also when you reviewed the site did you notice that my phone number at the top of the logo design was not fully displaying (someone said the last 2 digits were cut off) It is showing the whole number on my browsers. I have 3 browsers that I use and it looks fine on all 3 Thank you Patti

The phone number looked good to me you may want to find out what masterpeace is using to view it in.

I tried your email again and it still will not work.

Not sure what is up with that

Default A lot of white space

I don't say this too much when looking at a website,
but you have a lot - maybe too much white space.
As a result I think your pages are longer than they
need to be.

Your text is all the same except for some blue and
some underlined headings. Usually an underline is
associated with a link.. so I would eliminated any
underlines that are not links. Instead of using an
underline for the paragraph headings... how about
making that text bold? or a different size.
Consistancy in the text type is good.. but with a lot
of text it can be "boring".

Ok, now the big question - on your "resources page":
Why in the world would you have links to other web
designers? The idea is for the viewer to use you,
not someone else.

You could benefit from some well placed graphics throughout your website and some samples of your work.

Looks like you've gotten some great advice, felicity1127! It should be really helpful to improve an already good-looking website. ;)

I've got to say I was also a bit confused by the blue text that wasn't a link. Remember that it's very important that you don't make your visitors think too hard. If they get confused by your site, they'll think twice about hiring you for anything!

Using different font sizes and colors will help call attention to the important things on your site, as long as you don't get too carried away! Try to keep it down to only 2 colors, maybe 3 at most. The same with font types. Too many just adds to a visitor's confusion.

You really do need to show some samples of your work, too. If you don't let folks know what you've done or what you are capable of doing, how do they know if they want to hire you? Even if you only show mockups, at least potential clients will see a little piece of how your mind works and what kind of designs you can produce. ;)

You've got a few inconsistencies on your page titles, too. Not the meta tags, I mean the actual titles at the top of each page. Sometimes they look like titles, sometimes they look like phrases. Sometimes they're in blue and sometimes black. Also, the placement of the titles seems to jump around a bit, as does the positioning of the text on the page below the titles.

You've got a good start on your design. You just need to tighten up a few little things and you're fine!

HTH!

That is a lot of spaces "&nbsp" there! Was this a WYSIWYG program you did this with? It seems like it.

You could try using hex code to get those links working properly.

Tightenen up the text with not so many blank lines in between, that will make your page a lot shorter...less scrolling.

I think its a good start, but you need to make it reflect your talents as web designer. At the moment it isn't.

But good luck anyway :-)
