This is my first post. I have been designer for a few years now since graduating from university with a degree in multimedia design, and have just taken a long contract to update the corporate identity of my client - Seaflex Ltd - starting with their online presence. The brief for this site was very tight but I am hoping that I have made the best of it. Any comments would be gratefully received and I would definitely like to review anyones site who reviews mine.

Well, you've done a good job!
It appears that the site is more informational (about the company's products) than trying to sell them. There are a few things I might change: 1) The color. White text on your light grey background is ok, but may be harder to read for some. You might think about a dark grey text on a white background keeping the five grey "product" blocks??? 2) I'd add Alt text for all the pictures in the site. It's better for search engines, people with graphics off, and acessibility. 3) I'd like to see navigation on every page that allows the viewer to go to any other page. As it is now, the viewer must go back to the home page to select another product page to go to. 4) The dark grey product boxes - the product name and "more information" go to the same place. I'm not sure if both are needed. One potential problem with using links that do not have an underline is viewers may not think there is a link... until they happen to mouse over it.... thus the "need" for a more overt "more information". 5) It would be better to have a more direct link between the product information and "where do I find it"? After all eventhough the products may be sold through dealers/agents... the veiwer doesn't care, he/she only want to know where to get it... and want to know now. ~Roland

Hi!
Overall I like your site very much. Straight to the point, moderate use of graphics, good layout. I do like the color scheme you've chosen, it's light on the eyes and the contrast between text and background is enough, I think... Regarding the website navigation I would agree more with the last reviewer if there where a lot of products in the site, but because there aren't so many pages, maybe it's alright in your case. But I do think you should have a back button, I know you do tell to use the browser back button, but its always good to have that possibility using only the site interface. I do agree with the fact you should have a different colour in your text links (to make them more noticeable) and orange probably isn't the best color for the mouseover, it's not all that readable... Congrats for the help option, it's something hard to see in most sites, and for the alternate text version of the site. But why don't you insert links on the site map too?! If you wanna take a peek at my website go to http://www.webproworld.com/viewtopic.php?t=1754&start=0. I had a lot of input, and have to make some changes for my next version (soon, I hope), but it will be nice having comments from someone with a degree in this area. ;-) Ricardo Pereira |

Seaflex looks good & very clean to me - I had no problems with reading the text, but I could imagine some might.
I like the orange text rollover links - yes it's hard to read, but usually one has already read the link before the mouse rolls over it & who can read through the mouse curser anyway???, so I really don't see that as a problem, rather a nice colour contrast effect to the darker backgrounds. Maybe expand the navigation onto all pages to include all products - I did keep going home to. Mate I like it, very well put together. |

Site looks great though I agree with the various comments already posted.
However - You don't have any sites stats script within your html. perhaps you are planning on using the server side logs? Its all very well having the best site in the world but what is important is knowing if anybody is looking at it, how they get there, what pages they look at. Without that knowledge one of the great advantages of the web in being able to provide feedback is lost. That feedback also enables you to develop the site, building on what works, rejecting what fails. Good luck Simon |

Simon,
Thanks for your comments. I have tried something new with this site - they are called MatrixStats. I must say that so far they have been outstanding - it is web based and to be honest it provides far more information than I could ever need - the most important of which to my client (apart from number of hits etc) is the tracking of geographic location of visitors. My client is aware of most big projects that are on the horizon and can tell from the MatrixStats if people in that country are looking through the site - it gives them a head start when pitching. MatrixStats are cheap and proving to be valuable - I would recommend them to anyone. |
