First of all, your background is terrible,
and so is the bird to woman transformation..it is fuzzy and does nothing for the site... use the candle as your logo..
Make a title for the page and put it and the logo on every page in your site..
The font for "special of the month" is not good.. it's fuzzy and not easily readable.
And, there is no reason to have the NBC news box on your page, is there? It takes up valuable space and a visitor has to scroll too far down to see your links.
I don't mean to be harsh, but your site needs some serious work.

Hey!
Love all the products u have showcased. I used to work for a firm that had similar products.

About the design. The background images is a sure NO NO. You have to get rid of it and it'll be nice it you loose the animated gifs as well.

Try a color scheme and a basic layout which will do wonders for your site.

Cheers!!

Hi Tammy,

Have to agree with all the comments above, the background must go.. along with the animated gifs. To be honest with you, I would scrap your current design altogether and get a bog-standard design template to 'house' your products. The shopping cart links can remain in place.. try to integrate the design of your shopping cart into your future design if at all possible.

You also need (as a matter of some urgency!) a distinctive logo, to give your site and your company its own identity. Sorry if all this sounds rather negative, but believe me, sometimes its better to be told the truth, and be in a position to remedy the situation, rather than be left uninformed and carrying on regardless.

Hope that helps

Paul

I can only echo what the previous posters have put. A major redesign I think. There is so much you can do with that site, and you are letting it down badly.

Sit back & have a rethink. Do a search of the net, there are some good templates out there that can be jazzed up, or even some webpage sets floating around that aren't too bad either.

Honesty can hurt, but sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind.

Good luck ! :-)

Default Thanks everyone! :)

Alright, no-one likes to hear that their site SUCKS, but I clearly get the point. No feelings hurt here! However, I have tried the plain jane color schemes and don't like them. It looks like every other store selling the same items. What I want is a darker look, mystical/magical in nature and be darned if I can come up will something original. LOGO's I stink at (using the candle idea for a logo doesn't work for me, I will have many, many more things than just candles-thanks anyway). I will get ride of the fuzzy fonts and animation and things. Changing my sites background and color is pretty easy in fact this is my 3rd redo! I will keep working and searching for the right touch and will submit it again redone.

If anyone has any great ideas for logos and background (keeping in mind my dark side) PLEASE let me know. I can be e-mailed at:

webmaster@treasurecubby.com

Again thanks for the critisism, It does help.....

Don't get disheartened treasurecubby. If you go to my main portal http://activnet.org/ you will see what has been an ongoing process of doing & redoing sites. Even the most professional designers are continually tweaking their sites. It's a bit like tending a garden....keep getting rid of the weeds & watch your garden bloom :-)

I used to have a lot of gothic pics that could work well on your site. Give me a few days to have a search for them & I will send them onto you.

Hi Tammy,

Just checked out your site again, it looks a lot better with just those few changes... looking forward to seeing the site, just as soon as you're happy to submit for review again! :c)

There is a WONDERFUL resource out there to help you with your color scheme. Go to http://www.visibone.com/colorlab/big.html and have fun.

I agree with matauri about the weeds in the garden. I have saved most of the various designs for my website over the past four years and it never fails to make me cringe when I look back on them. You think it's good at the time but just wait! Whatever you do don't give up and remember that, like anything creative, it's a process in which your design is born and reborn many times over.

Default Just one thing.

The specials, you should try to use images that are the same size, as they look abit jumbled up.

OK, there is something else, in the catalogue it says " **NOTE: Item numbers beginning with AZ have special ordering instructions. " which happens to be most items in the bowls and other sections, try doing it the other way around, put AZ on the other products.

In the "Other Bargains" the scrolling text needs to have a different background colour.

And don't disallow right clicks, as it doesn't help anybody, you can just go to View --> Source.

Good Look
