Furlong's Pet Supply Online.

Site loads and looked quite good. Then it hit me. And I couldn't look away until I finally "got" it. What do I refer to? The optical "puzzle" in upper left -- a.k.a. the logo.

I don't know for sure, but it may be a little roadblock. With something like the arrow in the FedEx logo, it is quite easy to simply read the FedEx part and forget the arrow. That doesn't seem to be working with the positive/negative space used here.

Otherwise the site is bold in a graphic sense, but in a good way. Sections and layout play with the visual flow, hard to pull off without messing it up.

Although I'd rather observe users looking at this, my first impression is to say "nice job." I would suggest experimentation with headings in the colored tablike areas at the top of the rounded boxes.

The site seems to be under construction, as my first pick "Fish" led nowhere. The experimental layout techniques are quite interesting from a design point of view, but leave me at a loss as to how a user will react. They are clever, innovative, but don't seem to be of the annoying variety my senses have been dulled by.

In other words I'm willing you give the benefit of a doubt. Site navigation seems to be a flavor of Mystery Meat designed specifically to promote exploration. This is similar to physical store layout techniques, and if successful would be one of the few successful web-based examples.

The site is a puzzle for me, from top to bottom. I'd love to watch a user go throught the site -- from first landing to final order. Throwing caution to the wind, I will say this is a site which shows some intriguing interaction design ideas. Good work.

P.S. The nav seems clear, and there is a clear, logical path that seems to make sense. I don't want to "give it away," but think two paths. If this, let's call it a secondary nav path, works for users it could be quite interesting. For review purposes it is nonstandard, but in intriguing ways.

Default Thank you

Disapointed in the views on my navigation though. I'm hoping users can easily and quickly find what they are looking for. The only components that are functional is the dog and cat divisions. The others are soon to come.

Default My site is above any of your advice

Ahh! That got you! I submited my site, but only recieved 1 response....I can only assume it's because it is that good. The student has become the teacher....NO! The Master! Apparently my site is beyond reproach. Since that is the case I'm taking over Webproworld as it's leader. 1st order of busines is to turn Ultamarine into a porn site.
Of course if I get taken down a notch by others harshly evaluating my site then I will re-assume my humbleness and resign my self back to learning and will quietly wait till I do indeed become the most site owner.

Default A joke

I assume most posters will get the fact that I am making fun of myself and obviously want input. The fantasy world that allows you "Merlin" isn't totally unhumorous I hope?

Furlongs, I am sorry if I have caused any offence. I too, believe it or not, noticed you were making fun of yourself but my comments were also meant in a humerous way - and in no way was intended to be a personal attack.

I thought of reviewing your site, like I have, for many others, who have appreciated my input, but I decided not to, as I lacked any contributions of any significance. Instead, I chose to make a humerous comment, which, in my opinion added to the discussion.

It seems, this was misplaced, and once again, I'm sorry.
