Default www.vacationrentalsdirectory.net

We've just launched a PFI directory for the vacation rentals industry at www.vacationrentalsdirectory.net.

We've gone for a clean, simple approach for fast load and easy navigation. Google and DMOZ are probably owed some credit in our design approach! The project turned out to be a greater design headache than others with a more varied content mix: the "less is more" tactic wasn't as easy as we first thought...

As far as we can find, it's the first dedicated web directory for this marketplace. The "news" section is attracting good contributions from the community and the montly bulletin could easily turn bi-weekly.

Intuitive nav, printability and a focused approach were foremost in our minds - have we achieved it?

Please let us know your thoughts - good or bad!

Tested in IE6 56k modem 800x600. Loads nice and fast. As I'm from the UK, I checked out the UK listings which seems quite good for some areas (West Country for example) but not so good for other areas. A nice design and could well become a very useful site. Good luck with it.

Default Thanks...

Nice comments, Nick - thanks.

The directory is still very new and filling as we speak, hence a few blank spots. It's completely reliant on industry-adoption so watch this space!

BB,

I love your site! It is crisp and clean and loads very fast.

But (and you see this from me a lot :), you cannot adjust the font size, and the size you picked is too small for my blind eyes. This seems to be a recurring theme in the last few years, almost everybody has gone to fixed font sizes. . .

p.s. I am telling all my condo owners friends about this, as you need to get the Colorado section beefed up!

Default Font sizes are an issue...

Good point - I'll go through this one with the designers and see what can be done to tweak it.

Glad you like the site, feel free to tell the world! There are quite a few gaps in the portfolio, which is probably to be expected at this early stage. But since URL submittal date forms part of the order of results, early adopters get a bonus.

Did you get yesterday's latest bulletin? Some good articles this month, had some nice feedback in the inbox this morning.

The marketing is taking time to kick in but we seem to have established a reputable name in the marketplace. Converting positive vibes to new site submissions is the next trick!

Thanks all.
