I think it looks professional, but grim... I mean, cv:s are official and oft-times quite boring and yours is pleasant to read but it's grim, dark colors, extreme dark contrast with links (I'm not sure if accessibility requires that heavy contrast, I'm sure you'd know better). Also the links are so over emphasized that they distract from reading the text, maybe without the brackets?

I'm all for accessibility and have been reading your writings and enjoyed many of them, I hope this helps you in some way. While looking for professionals, employers (at least like to think they are) look for positive and team spirited people, thus making the page a little more sunny (not literally, I'm sure you understand) would be advised.

Yours truly,

Sure thing!

I looked at the site, you did a remarkable job at making it clearer and more positive =)

I read it through twice and I've got to admit that you've got a remarkable resume there... In conclusion I thought of three things that could be good ideas - speaking strictly of personal opinion, although I have been an employer and manager and am currently an entrepeneur.

I went as far as printing one page, simply as a test for your layout ;)

1) link color - can you change it? The blueberry color is still negative, even if the contrast is great... Even plain black might be to good effect if bold or maybe grey or blue or the orange.
2) I loved the orange at the bottom, that incidentally seems to match the validity icon colors - good choice! If you've opted to use background color at the top, can you provide an alternate page for review that has the top part if the same orange? I think it'd be good... Of course that would mean that the orange line would have to be changed but a I'm sure someone could give a good pointer in the color choice (I'm no graphic designer, even the stick men that I draw are horrible).
3) Keypoints. This is important, from reading it - you've great diplomas and good work experience, but from the vantage point of an employer, at a glance it would appear that recently you've had a lack of work, maybe due to the wordings used "part time jobs". While part time jobs indicate that you work, instead of sitting at home - not elaborating them gives off a vague feeling.

Whether it's true or not (I'm sure it is with your accessibility sites), you could make a paragraph or two about your company and what you're doing there (I for one as entrepeneur do all kinds of things, from accounting to management to design etc) as well as your personal experience as a designer. I know the personal experience is visible on the page, but as we all know, people scan things - the first couple paragraphs make the general impression to which the facts fill in any possible questions, e.g. "now if you've your own company - why do you need work / how much time your company requires, are you sure you can devote yourself to us?" etc.

I hope that this can at least give something to think about, if not the actual answers that we have to find for ourselves.

Also lets not forget, that formatting one's cv doesn't always mean we're looking for work etc. I just based my replies on the assumption and tried to view the page as an potential employer would.

Yours truly,

Hey, the blueberry color I referred to was the link color that you've changed to black.

The site looks good, I'd still consider the top color change to orange you've used at the bottom but if you like it - it's fine =)

I notice you took out tha page two of your resume? I thought it was good but then again, you can fill in the dates when necessary.

The page looks decent, readable and professional now, there's no major modifications that would need to be done.

At code level, it's just a minor issue but for accessibility (screen readers etc.) general coding practice:

<div>Skip Navigation</div>

Could be performed better with changing the forced spaces to padding or margin (I'd advice on margin but depends on the content management system that I assume you're using).

Also wondering why you've named content to be both a class and an id:

<div class="content">

<a id="content"></a>You are here: Home

Also you can greatly reduce your css file, although it's not necessary it does reduce transfer times and appear better, for example:

body {

* padding-right : 0;
* padding-left : 0;
* padding-bottom : 0;
* margin : 0;
* padding-top : 0;

}

into->
body {padding: 0; margin 0;}

and

div.topbar {
* border-right : 0 solid #800080;
* padding-right : 0.45em;
* border-top : 0 solid #800080;
* padding-left : 0.7em;
* padding-bottom : 0.45em;
* margin : 0;
* border-left : 0 solid #000000;
* padding-top : 0.7em;
* border-bottom : 0.2em solid #800080;
* height : 45px;
* background-color : #800080;
* color : #ffffff;
* font-weight : bold;
* font-size : 120%;
* text-align : center;}

to

div.topbar {border 0 0 0.2em solid #800080; margin: 0; padding: 0.7em 0.45em; height: 45px; color: #fff; background-color: #800080; font-weight: bold; font-size: 120%; text-align: center;}

You could go on and modify the font values a little as yet but I'm sure you get the idea.

Hope this helps, yours truly,

Niko thanks a lot, but I replaced my CSS code with yours, and it did not work.

Besides I just wanted to say here, that I do not use a CMS.

What do you mean that I can have problems with screen readers when using "*"?

Did not work? Hmm, strange, must've made a typo somewhere... Sorry about that, I'll try to look into it, the basic changes were simple, condensing the declarations e.g. no need to define all four directions for borders when you can do it with a single declaration, for color, if all the letters are same (#FFFFFF, it can be halved and works just as well),

at least one typo here:
div.topbar {border 0 0 0.2em solid #800080; margin: 0; padding: 0.7em 0.45em; height: 45px; color: #fff; background-color: #800080; font-weight: bold; font-size: 120%; text-align: center;}

should be
div.topbar {border: 0 0 0.2em solid #800080;

*embarassed* shouldn't have been so hasty...

I assumed the cms from the comments that you had made for the top and bottom, in the source code.

Using * is may (I'm not sure) cause a pause or alternation in the pace of the speech since you're telling the browser to make a space between two letters but pronounce/present it without a break, e.g. if you wanted to post numbers:
10 000 could break into two lines, whereas 10.000 or 10*000 would not.

Using empty images and tags for layout is often frowned upon, alhtough I may get flamed for stating this ;)

For padding, the easiest way would be to set left margin, or even more compatible use "left" in the cess, telling the browser to measure exact position from the left side. Depending on whether you assign it the whole left div (your menu element) or the text, you could use a span, id or div. On our pages, the whole left div has been issues position-left or in the shorter form "left:", as I recall in either em or px, with elements inside the div issued a padding/margin. Compatibility issues often are declared with span and padding, thus we prefer margin whenever possible.

Again, a matter of choice, I used to use * for vertical space on occasion, but it's a lot easier and nicer to assign margin-top and/or margin-bottom to the element in question, it will reduce code, make the code better form and easier to read, as well as reducing file size (for repeated usage of the same class).

Let me know if the code didn't work and what errors appeared if it didn't, I'll promise to look into it.

This reminds me that our css file can be reduced by quite a bit, it's been a work in progress and now that it's quite stable, it should be condensed.

Yours truly,
