I am new to the realm of website design and e-business. I started my online business about four months ago and have not really received any comments about it. I like very much if someone could review my site and state a truthful opinion about it. I balance a full time job and this in my spare time so anything anyone is willing to offer would be great. Thanks a bunch.

It loads very slow.
Not very professional looking. Do not like the blue and black. Very depressing. Green on blue never really mixes... You need background vs text to be contrasting. I like the zoom in on the products. However I think you may be using the same picture for both the zoom in and the results pages. This may slow down the modem users to a halt.

The layout is a little confusing. Also, I would bring the site name and slogan to the top left. That is where the eye starts and right now it is just wasted space. I actually looked at it for a second or two waiting for something to pop up before going ot the right. Also, the items right under the header are confusingly laid out. My eye goes "Welcome to" [picture of drive] "Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9" rather than "Welcome to Smart Computer Connection." The Welcome image and your logo are too disconnected from one another in look and feel.
I do agree that the site is a bit dark. Try to think of an ecommerce site as you would a brick and mortar store. If you were out shopping for a new drive and there were two stores on the same block and one was well-lit and bright and the other was dark and dingy, which one would you walk in to? Try to keep that in mind when designing an online store as well because, believe it or not, the same principle often applies. If you were selling heavy metal t-shirts and albums, I'd say go for it with the dark background, but not with computer hardware.

I agree with info202 but would like to add one more thing the text on the left hand menu looks funny. I think it would look better instead of trying to line the words up in the center of the button to line them up on the left side.

I toke the advice of the experienced individuals of this forum and redesigned my website and gave it a more professional look with a brighter color scheme. Could you please revaluate it and let me know what you think.

Very nice.... you've made some dramatic improvements and it shows...
but, you still don't have a physical address, which is something you may want to think about adding.. if you don't want your home/office address listed, you might think about renting a post office box, which in the scheme of things, is not expensive. I really like the changes you've made |
