Hi all,

My name is Charlie. I'm the webmaster for Keep It Kinky ltd and have been for about a year.

We sell a variety of Fetish wear like Lingerie, PVC clothing & Lingerie, Latex clothing & Lingerie and Sex Toys.

It s a pretty competitive market but we were doing pretty well up untill around april since when we've been up and down like a yo yo.

Our main keyword phrases are:
  • Sex Toys
    Latex Clothing
    Latex Lingerie
    PVC Clothing
    PVC Lingerie
Take a look and let me know how you think we could improve things.

Thanks, Charlie

Thanks Cbrickhouse,

Your right and its something I've been pondering.

I've got quite a few pages I need to put up on things like how to care for your Sex Toys, how to care for your latex clothing etc. There's going to be alot so I'm thinking maybe I should put a whole new area of the web site for this.

I need to think of a name for it though... something like Dr Kinky's advice pages or whatever. I could put in a Q & A part etc.

Anybody got any ideas for a name?

Default Navigation

I would do something to draw more emphasis on the left-hand navigation. 90% of website have left-hand navigation and that's because people expect it there. Right now, with the background image being so dark that the text could be hard to read on some monitors. Although, the links in the body to the "Top Ten Products" is great, you may want to repeat that in the left hand column. And Brickhouse is right, the stuff at the bottom on the right just doesn't fit there.

Also, on your catalog pages, I would repeat the "Previous" and "Next" buttons on the bottom in the top. You may have some people who've been to your site before that know what page a product is on and hates having to scroll to the bottom to get to the next page.

I also looked at your meta-tags. I know, everyone will try to tell you they don't matter anymore, but they do. You're description matches your keywords exactly, you may try putting an actual paragraph style description there. Also you might consider some very targeted keywords. The ones you have are very broad, and that doesn't help when you're trying to turn up high in search results.

On the positive side, you're logo is clear and branded throughout the site and the site is very consistent across every page. This is key when trying to gain customer confidence. No one ever feels confident in a chaotic site where you lose track of where you are.

Now that I'm done with this review I think I'll go and check out a few of your "products"!

Hope this helps.

Default Review

Well as you had the bottle to put it up for review I'll rise to the challenge.

Overall this is a very professional site which loads well, runs smoothly and has clear text and easy naviagtion. The good points were that you had a size conversion chart, I found the European shipping costs easy enough and I felt that I was on a retail business site not a sex site. I even learnt a few things looking at the product descriptions but I have to ask are the customers gallery for real???

A few minor niggles and comments. When the home page first opened my eyes were drawn to the 2 picture links on the left and my immediate impression was that you were selling Party agencies not aids. When I looked more it became clear that that was the wrong impression but it was my first impression. Some of the product pictures are not of a very high quality (especially of the boxed products) and could do with improvement. The only other thing I could complain about was the background image on the main Left hand navigation bar, it obscures your links and means you don't spot the links straight away. But other than that great site

Hope this helps

Regards
Julian

Hmm,

Thanks for the comments....looks like I'm gonna have to do something about the lady behind the links.

It looks fine on my monitor but I assumed it would on everyone elses.

Problem is I think it looks pretty plain without it.

So do you think I'd get away with just making her a lighter shade or do you think we need rid of her all together?

Default ummm fade her

Hi Charlie,

Try fading her out to a very light outline. Then let us know you've done it and well tel you what we think :)

The other option would be place her so that the top of her head is just below the bottom link. I will still have the effect of not having a plain white box but it wouldn't then interfere with the Nav links

Regards

Julian

Hi guys,

What are your thoughts on the boxes in the middle that currently say things like: top ten, stag & hen products and plus sizes.

Would these boxes be better served saying: Latex Clothing, PVC Clothing and Sexy Lingerie etc?

Anyone know of any research done on this kind of thing saying which is more likely to convert a surfer to a buyer or does anyone have an opinion on which will look better.

Cheers,

Default Not kinky enough!

The sites seems a little too ecommerce. Make it kinkier and you will sell even more. Start be increasing the size of the large popup pics of your products (and those modeling them!)

Good Luck

Hi Guys,

Well i've made a few adjustments so I thought I'd see what you thought.

I've still not thought of a name for the help area so for the moment I've moved the usa button into the middle and seperated the purple buttons to even them out.

I've lightened the background image on the left behind the nav links - do you think that's enough?

Thanks

Charlie

Hi Charlie,

Much better.... The nav links on the left are clear and the image breaks the harshness of the whitebox. I still think your "become a party person" and "customer gallery" boxes are too dominant on the right but the rest of the page flows much better.

Hi guys,

Thanks for all your comments.

Just thought I'd mention that I've now done a new site:

www.Supeiorsupplements.co.uk

It went live last week and is allready receiving orders. However we're getting more people than normal ringing as apposed to placing an order over the net. I was wondering if there is a problem with the site that's causing this.

Any comments on the new site would be much appreciated.
